A very nice stay if you choose the traditional tatami + futon room, NOT the "western" room - that's a cramped hole on a gloomy exit staircase, separated from other rooms with a heavy door and outdoor hallway, no shower and wifi didn't work there - a big mistake to book it; we were lucky that it was possible to change it for a traditional room - spacious, light, with a shower and much more comfort, good wifi - even though it costs slightly more, it was worth it. The onsen is lovely though old, the staff very nice, the breakfast room elegant and pleasant. It is good to speak a little Japanese. Walkable distance from the station. An affordable choice if you want to make trips in the area. 

An affordable traditional hotel with a character; avoid the "western" room.

This is an older hotel that appears to be nicely maintained. We had a HUGE room with comfortable futon sleeping arrangements. The front desk (and breakfast) staff were friendly and helpful. A nice breakfast buffet is laid out in the lobby.

But the *real* draw are the onsens. One of the communal baths (they switch between men's/lady's at 10PM daily) has a very large outdoor bath attached. And of the three private baths (no additional charge), the one at the end of the volcanic air raid shelter tunnel is a fun chance to bathe in giant "cannibal pots."

A comfortable older hotel, with a nice outdoor bath

I paid $150 for a regular room only to be put in the maid's room. I traveled all the way from California, and was there for 1 night. The staff doesn't speak English and they could not resolve the issue with their Hotel Broker, which is a Chinese Company. A very bad experience and you can find a lot of hotels in the same city that are much better. Will post pictures of the room they gave us.

Horrible Accommodations, The Maid Room

The hotel is affiliated with a Chinese company that is unethical and falsely advertised the room. I paid $150 USD for what I saw in the pictures and per the listing description, and was given what is known as the “maids room” with no shower or bathtub. Complained and was told they were fully booked, and I can shower in the Onsen. The stairs to the room were not safe especially climbing up the stairs with luggage.

Ruined a trip I’ve been waiting 9 Years to take

Service at the hotel was very friendly, though they could not speak English. There were very nice onses, especially bomb shelter onsen (private) and the outdoor onsen (public). Breakfast was also great! I would give full five stars but the bathroom in our room was quite outdated. Otherwise the room was nice and spacious with a good view over the city.

Great visit!

My partner and I were recommended to stop by Daitokan for their onsen and were not disappointed! There are 3 different private onsen that you can visit solo or as a pair, as well as the standard mens/womens onsen. The price covers you for all - so you're welcome to wander between.

The gomae bath was incredible - hot and had a very neat entrance.
The lying bath was also really relaxing - plenty of room to stretch out and let the warm water and river rock bottom sooth away any stress.

Worth visiting for their onsen!

Our family visited Izu peninsula as tourists and we wanted to stay in a Japanese ryokan hotel and go to onsens. This hotel was a perfect choice! Our hotel room included a tatami room with futons, a full bathroom, and a sitting area with large windows that offered a great view of the town. It was so convenient to have the onsens right at the hotel. Also the 3 private onsens are a nice option for people who are shy about being naked and/or have tattoos. The breakfast buffet had many items including pastries, scrambled eggs, soup, and Japanese salads. The hotel staff were very courteous and friendly. 

Great first ryokan experience!

If we decide to go to the fountain again, it's only there! 100% Japanese reek with a bunch of spare shoes, your shoes are taken at the entrance and you move around the hotel in funny slippers that are all on one leg) Staff is above all praise despite the fact that English is practically zero. It was no problem, we took a Japanese logo and used a Google translator to solve topical issues. On the first morning when it was discovered that we didn't eat the meat of the workers, the next morning we were specially prepared for vegetable and fish dishes.

If you don't have a grandmother in Japan, you can come here!

A nice hotel with great hot spring. The hotel has both public and private pools and all pools are free. Food is ok, staff are nice and friendly.

The first is called Dai-yokujyo, which is the big furnace (public furnace) and son 2 (one for women and another for men but at 22 hours it turns so that one can enjoy both). The second is called Goemon-buro, which is 2 large and deep family pots. You can search in Wiki about Ishikawa Goemon and sabrán because it is called that. To get to this furnace you have to go through a tunnel that was (in the days of World War II bombings) and it feels a little dark. The third is Ne-buro (where the third is located).
