This place is perfect for the low budget travelers. Bunk bed accommodation. Clean sheets, clean towels provided for each guest on check in. Free bread, tea, and coffee for breakfast. 20 min walk to the memorial musium / center.
Especially good if you are traveling in a group as you can book out a room for yourselves.

Check in is at 6pm! But there are free lockers outside to stash your stuff until the place opens at 6 ;)

The overal experience was good! For 2000yens per person,the location (nishi-hiroshima) is good if you want to visit Hiroshima and Miyajima with your JR pass and you are really 2 minutes from the station! There is also a big sipermarket and a 100 yens shop next door! The rooms are small, it's a bit tricky to fit your luggage but the beds were confortable and the kitchen is well equiped with free tea ans coffee. Only bad point.. just a shower and a toilet for everybody!

IMPORTANT!: This guesthouse is not in "downtown" hiroshima but more remotely near the nishi-hiroshima JR train station. 

Abstract: 
Cheap, small and remote. 
If You look only for a bed for the night the guesthouse CARPE is a good option. If youre looking for other travelers to go out into hiroshimas nightlife and have some drinks while playing poolbiliard in the living room of the guesthouse, you will not be satisfied.

I stayed in this guesthouse for one night during April 2016

After checking in ( until 2200) you will recieve a code for the door in the night, and a rundown on the great tourist attractions in hiroshima. ( A-Bomb dome etc ).
The owner speaks a quite good english and has a lot of card material for tourists in the guesthouse.

----Dormitory-----
(review only for the 4 bed male dormitory) 

3 bed sheets, towel

Bed: Actually a wooden bunk bed with 3 white sheets, a thick blanket and a small lamp. 8 US stlye sockets. Works for persons that are 6 feet tall, but you will have a hard time sitting in the bed.  

Room: Too small for four persons to pack or unpack their backpacks. Gets congested 
pretty quickly. Inadequate wire hangers break easily. 

----Bathroom-----

SMALL!, dont bumb your head on the doorframe! (the owner ductaped some parts of a pool noodle to prevent the westeners from seriously injuring themselves). One toilet, sink and shower for all visitors. ( makes you getting up earlier :) )

The shower is ok and you can easly stand in it when youre about 6 feet tall.

----Breakfast-----

In the kitchen you find different accessories to make dishes, microwave, rice cooker, fridge, water cooker etc. One moveable cooking plate for small dishes. 
Maybe go for some instant noodles with vegetables for a big group.

----Public transportation-----

The guesthouse is right next to the Nishi- Hiroshima Station where trains leave pretty frequently in both directions. No bikes in the train!
Since you where smart and acquired the JR railway pass(!) you can just show it when entering the station. 

Sidenote: If you arrive the first time you can see a sign where only the letters CARPE are readeable. This is the guesthouse!  But you will spend an other 20 min to find the hidden, secret entrace wich is to the left of the sign. And a narrow corridor will guide you to the guesthouse entrace. 

----Private transportation-----

- Bike: 
  You can not rent a bike from the guesthouse Carpe!

  But there are two options: 
  Rent a red E-bike from various places in hiroshima 1000 yen (9$) a day.
  Rent an ordinay bike from a local bike shop 500 yen a day. ( japanese near native / fluent skill required :) )

- Rental car

There is a parking lot right in front of the guesthouse. No charges.

Cheap guest house close to the JR station Nishi Hiroshima

We booked in this place for 5 days and we got surprised by how many restricted rules about the house. There are specific times to take shower, turn on/off the air conditioner, turn off the lights, etc. I believe it was just to make sure nobody messes it up but if just follows this rules, the experience will be okay.

It's so close to the station you can even see it in the window and one of cheapiest in Hiroshima. Gladly, we couldn't hear the train at night so it was okay to sleep. The beds can make some louder noises.

Rules are everywhere! Besides that, it was okay

Hostel very clean and organized, but staff very rude, there were rules in everywhere, time to use de heater, the shower, etc. only 1 toilet and 1 shower for all guests. Could be better, that’s the reason for my review score. Hostel Ok, just it.

Basic

I have to say that I don't understand the other reviews..Well it's close to places, but still I wouldn't never book it again. We have been traveling Japan cheaply almost one month, and this was far the most bad and rude hostel.

It is super small. And that I get, because there is a shortage of space in Japan. But the owner makes it even smaller. For example there is cabinets in the room, but you are not aloud to use it :D So there is literally no space for your staff. Not at all. And rooms are not clean (just look under the bed). Usually in Japan there has been super clean rooms. There is just one toilet and shower for many guests. 

But those I can also take, but the thing that I would never book this, is the owner. It's almost funny. There is soooo many rules everywhere. You are not allowed to do this and that. You are not allowed to use lighting in a certain time, you are not allowed to use aircon when there is certain degrees...and this goes on and on. You don't feel welcomed at all! The staff don't ask you how has your day been, or anything. The owner got annoyed because we didn't know how to use the outside door lock. I really amazed that why do you keep guest house if obviously don't like people- 

Everyone in Japan has been super super nice to us, so I don't know whats wrong with this owner.
