I arrived with my wife from a very sticky Verona by car, feeling fairly depleted, and rather like Hans Castorp arriving on The Magic Mountain. And sure enough we were welcomed with a drink by Klaus, the owner/proprietor, and I began to feel waves of wellness float over me immediately. The hotel is quite unique. It is family run and has a very personal, understated quality about it. The surroundings are incredibly beautiful. From the dining terrace one sits looking over the small lake to a vista of rather gothic mountains in the distance. The food is delicious, wholesome and excellent. Accompanied by a generous buffet for those who wish to supplement it. And, of course, the superb wines of Alto Adige. The staff are charming and efficient. The bedrooms spacious and comfortable. Plus one gets the Ritten Card - for free transport on trains and cable cars to all the many local resorts and attractions. At the end of our week I was refreshed, renovated and raring to go. What more can I say? We shall be back!
