Fontemorsi Agriturismo

My husband, our 3 year old daughter and I had the pleasure of staying in 'Le Tinte' apartment at Fontemorsi in June and it was just perfect. The apartment is one of 3 apartments in a detached farmhouse on a vineyard just outside the beautiful hilltop village of Montescudaio; a 20 minute walk uphill into the village (with a slow 3 year old and frequent stops to admire the wonderful views and wildlife) and an easy 10 minutes walk back. The apartment is large and airy and furnished well. The beds were comfortable, the showers powerful and water always hot and there is a fantastic range of cooking equipment. The best thing about the apartment is the covered outside terrace which both bedrooms and kitchen/living area open onto, this is large and has great views over the surrounding countryside and over to Volterra in the distance. The swimming pool is shared with the other two apartments but there are plenty of loungers and chairs around it and again, the pool enjoys wonderful views. We enjoyed early morning walks around the vineyard which is brimming with wildlife; we regularly spotted a family of four hoopoe birds, geckos, lizards, swallowtail butterflies and came within 2ft of a very young deer and its mother when walking one morning. We enjoyed days out to Volterra and Pisa (both about an hour in the car) and to San Gimignana (about 80-90 minutes). There is a small shop in the village, a bar that also sells ice cream and several restaurants. We booked next years holiday within a day of being back home and I think that says it all.
