The Lemon Tree

We had the most wonderful, memorable stay in May this year. We came across the Lemon Tree by accident when planning our wedding in Taormina, as we were looking for accommodation for us and our family and somewhere to have an intimate wedding breakfast. How fortunate we were, as we discovered that Karen is a wedding planner too! We came out on a fact-finding visit in February and Diego and Karen made up a room especially for us (even though they were officially closed) and organised breakfast for us. We knew then that we had found the perfect place to stay with some incredible hosts. Our apartment was very spacious and comfortable, we were on the first floor, with spectacular views over Taormina and out to sea and towards Mount Etna. Other members of our party were in the adjacent first floor apartments, with a family of four in the very large downstairs apartment. The swimming pool and outdoor games were very popular with all, and it was lovely to relax on the terrace with a glass of wine and gaze at the view. Karen’s home made limoncello was a big hit too! Karen was quick to answer any questions about the local area and make last minute arrangements, although she was obviously very busy with other guests too, being fully booked that week. In terms of the wedding planning side, we cannot thank Karen, Diego and Paulo enough for making our special day so perfect. The personal service, care and attention to detail was second to none. On arrival, Karen kindly offered to take my dress to hang safely upstairs. We had a fantastic local meal on the first night cooked by Karen, delicious! After the ceremony in town, Karen arranged for our flowers to be taken from the palazzo back to the Lemon Tree and repurposed as a table decoration. Arriving back at the apartments, we were treated to prosecco and nibbles on the terrace. We will never forget our wedding breakfast on the terrace with beautiful food prepared by a local chef and atmospheric decorations and candles. And a stunning traditional wedding cake was the final ‘icing on the cake!’ Everything was taken care of, and Karen and Paulo in particular, worked their socks off all evening until very late. On waking up the next morning, everything had been magically cleared away and a delicious brunch served for us. We were very sorry to leave, in fact, with hindsight, we should have stayed on for a few days to relax once our family had left. We can’t wait to go back!
