Castello D'Abruzzo

Castello DÁbruzzo is ideally situated on top of a hill and is easy to find using GPS. The castle tower and chateau are set in quiet gardens, surrounded by grape vines tended by local farmers. The room we had was on the ground floor of the tower and very spacious with antique furniture and a large bed that was quite comfortable. A complementary bottle of bubbles and plenty of bottled water was provided in the room fridge. Being ensconced within the stone walls meant that the room was very quiet and although Wi-Fi has trouble penetrating such thick walls, it was easy to connect in other areas of the chateau. The private bathroom is just outside the door, in the room at the bottom of the staircase. It was private and easy to access. Parking is onsite and secure. Tony, (the owner) and his staff were fabulous and we were given an extensive tour of the chateau, including the huge cellar. We were also fortunate enough to enjoy an unbelievable dining experience where the chef prepared a huge multi course meal that included anti-pasta, pasta alla chitarra (guitar string pasta),local lamb shoulder, lamb platter, desert and cake, with the opportunity of sampling a variety of local wines. The meal was simply amazing! Tony also gave us some local touring ideas and day trip suggestions as we used the castle as our base for a few days. Interestingly enough, the castle also caters for weddings and receptions and has it's own chapel. It was a great stay and we will definitely be back.
