Tiruchirappalli or Trichy isn't a tourist hot spot. I only stayed here because of the railway schedules; I didn't want to arrive in Thanjavur at 4 AM. So it was a surprise to find a clean hotel with good sized rooms and air conditioning, Where were also non-air conditioned rooms too. The beds were firm and the pillows soft. Good size bathroom and very clean. There were lots of restaurants around the hotel and the hotel had a restaurant on the ground floor. From the railway station head for the large green steam engine at the entrance of the carpark and the Sankar Inn is across the road.
