Before our stay at Kallisti Studios, whenever we entered "Ormos Panagias" in Google Maps, to our surprise we invariably got the answer "Agios Nikolaos". It turned out that, officially, Ormos Panagias is the harbor of the village of Agios Nikolaos, the latter being some 2.5 km away. (By the way, be warned that on the map of Greece Agios Nikolaos is something that you see everywhere - I suspect there are hundreds or even thousands of villages and other places named Agios Nikolaos, i.e., Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors and of Greece.) However, Ormos Panagias itself looks like a village or even a small town rather than a harbour - although the harbour is there. And Ormos Panagias is really beautiful. It is the starting point of cruises along Mount Athos, the second one after Ouranoupoli. At Kallisti Studios we got very good accommodation - the place is clean, air-conditioned and quiet, with nets against mosquitoes, there is everything you may need in the kitchen if you want to prepare your meals. The owners speak German and are very friendly. The supermarket is 20 meters away, the picturesque harbour with the tavernas 2 minutes away, the large and beautiful sandy beach (no urchins) 7 minutes away. Five km away is the area (and village) called Vourvourou, very beautiful, with a large number of beaches, some small peninsulas, lagoons and an island. Perfect for taking pictures. We had a great time at Ormos Panagias, a place that may be regarded as the most beautiful one in Halkidiki.
