i spent 2 nights in hotel Castro in Folegandros,
its located in the heart of the traditional Kastro of Folegandros and the view was unbelievable, one breath away from the cliff ,

unique sunset moments <3 

The room very clean and the reception really kind and helpful!

i would definitely suggest  the hotel and revisit!



Amazing view and service 

Simple hotel on the cliff with friendly reception. Room with beautiful and quiet sea view (small refrigerator and ventilator but no air conditioning). No breakfast but less than 5 minutes from the main square of the village where you can take it.

Central Hotel

We had an wonderful stay in the hotel Castro in Folegandros for 3 nights. We had a beautiful and calm room with an amazing sea view. It is very well placed in the main city Chora close to all restaurants.

Really nice stay in Folegandros

Because of a mistake in their booking system, we ended up in a different, small, ugly room. We went to the reception and the lady treated us very badly; she was nervous, screaming, she wasn't listening. If she was kind we would have accepted any solution, but she wasn't feeling right. I'm sorry for her husband, Constantin, who has to put up with her every day.

How to ruin a stay in 5 minutes

Very bad experience. The lady at the reception which is the owner was very impolite. We booked a room listed in their site as ‘’matrimoniale’’ which in italian means one bed for two that can be composed either of one unique bed or out of two. We get at the hotel and the room was instead composed of two completely separate beds that cannot be reunited. 
The lady, Instead of acknowledging the mistake with us due to a wrong translation of their site, from English to Italian (even though they corrected immediately the site  the next day so it was clearly an error on their site) she  treated us very bad, raising her voice at us and being VERY nervous and angry all time. I have never experience such a awful treatment as a customer. Wouldn’t recommend anyone this hotel as her behavior was very unpleasant and rude. She Never apologized for yelling at us or being impolite. We felt all the time as unwanted and unwelcome and she treated with arrogance instead of politely resolving the issue for an error of translation from their side. Folegandros is a magical city but this hotel is to be avoid as her behavior ruined our vacation on the island. A totally unacceptable way to treat people/customers for an issue that could have been easily resolved by talking nicely.

Rude behavior

The hosts were lovely and very friendly. Our room was pretty basic - exactly as it looks like in photos, but clean and fine for the purposes we wanted it. They cleaned the room and changed our towels daily. We had a small balcony which had an amazing view and this made our mornings special. It's great to wake up and see the blue colours. Other than that, the location of the hotel is at the heart of Chora in Folegandros and that's why the view is also great.

For light sleepers like me, if the weather is super windy, one of the negatives (not the owners fault) is that the wind is very loud in that specific location our room was. For some nights I had difficulty to sleep due to that. The Wi-Fi was also not working properly, which sometimes was annoying as the signal was not particularly good at the area. 

Overall we had a fantastic experience and I would definitely recommend the hotel to others and go back myself!

Amazing view, location - value for money

We had a room with a balcony overlooking the vast sea, 130 m high on the cliff. In this old house the rooms are small but perfectly equipped. We are a two-minute walk from Folegandros main square and its taverns. Absolute calm, magnificent and soothing views, warm welcome. What more can we hope for!

It's a privilege to stay in this 16th century mansion in the heart of Folegandros' Castro.

On the one hand the cliff and the sea, on the other the maze of the Kastro, the hotel is wonderfully well located. Our room was perfect, the reception very warm, what else to look for? We will come back!

A place out of time

Lovely hosts and and incredible room. We stayed in the same room again - on the roof with a private patio and it is absolutely stunning. FYI there are a number of stairs. Hotel is right in the center of everything

Second visit four years later specifically for this hotel

For our second stay in Folegandros we decided to stay at Castro hotel...and it was an excellent choice ! Amazing sea view from the cliff, perfect location in the old castro of Folegandros, cleanliness, warm welcome from Despo and her family, make our stay unforgettable...
As we fell in love with Folegandros we will be back for sure...and to stay there again will be part of a wonderful stay that we do not want to miss...
