Hotel Las Gaviotas

We  got our wallets stolen in Quito waiting for the bus to take us to Manta.  We had reservations at Las Gaviotas and when we checked  in we discovered we had no wallets. All the credit cards and the cash was gone. The nice people at Las Gaviotas checked us in and told us that we could pay for the hotel when we got home. We could sent a check. That's when I fell  in love with people of Ecuador. The owner of the hotel was the manger of a bank in Manta. He expedited our American Express and we didn't take advantage of offer but it was there.

Help When You Need IT

A family trip to Manta. Checked in was ok, the Front Desk Agent must have been tired, she never got up of her chair, she kept on looking at the computer screen we thought for a moment she was not able to locate our reservations.  We reserved 3 rooms, 2 of the rooms look nice.  If you stay in this hotel, please make sure they do not assigne room 301 to you:  it seems this room was never renovated, ever, comparing to the other two rooms, the other rooms had flat screen tvs, not room 301, one of the towels even had a hole.horrible bathroom,  The Front Desk Agent on the evening, Natalie, was much nicer, very friendly and professional, she recomended a nice restaurant, coordinated the taxi runs for us.  Breakfast was good,  If we would go back to Manta, we would not stay here again.

We were happy with our clean room.  The staff was friendly and the free breakfast was good ( scrambled eggs, rolls, fresh fruit, juice and coffee) It does need a lot of TLC, repairs, walls painted etc. We had a room facing the street and malecon so we did have traffic noise, but it didn't interrupt our sleep. Television and ac worked fine and was easy to get on WIFI. It does have a pool and a pool table which we didn't use. No elevator so if you can't do stairs this isn't the place for you

An economical place to stay

we stayed for one night. Situated on much traffic street. Thank god our AC was Working well and it helped not too ear it. Bed was very comfortable, breakfast very good and people helpful. However the hotel itself needs renovation. I recommend for a short stay.
