I spent time at this hotel hosting 2 private group tours from Canada .the hotel and amenities are AMAZING . BUT cuba is now making transportation very difficult and very expensive for tourists ..we must only ride in yellow taxis , which are 4x as much money as a Cuban taxi .. many long term vacationers are thinking of going to a different country because of these issues ..tourists want an authentic cuban experience . Old cars taxi , visit the coutry side without costing an arm and a leg . It's unfortunate,  Cubaes is seeing tough times and now pushing their tourists away ..

The exterior and lobby look well appointed but the rooms are definately not up to the same level.  It was very noisy too, with the pool just under my balcony and a nearby nightclub that went on until the small hours.  

We had three nights here during our Cuba trip. Like most Cuba hotels the Jagua is basic. All rooms overlook the pool so can be noisy with locals using the pool which seems to be the norm in many places.
On our first night there were several coach trips in and the buffet was rammed with space at a premium. The second night was very quiet and we ate in the snack bar. The third night we ate in the adjoining restaurant which was an experience.
We were without water in one morning but were supplied with plenty of bottles.
Like all our Cuba hotel stays an interesting but enjoyable stay.

i stayed 2 weeks at this hotel in cienfuegos, the rooms are big and clean, very nice ocean view, the food was very nice, (there are often cruiser tourists at the hotel, so it can be a bit noisy) the staff are very serviceminded.
not the best internet connections..

This was our 3rd stop on our Saga tour for 3 nights. Loved Cienfuegos which is just a bike ride from the Hotel. The Hotel needs some updating but was comfortable. We were given a ground floor room with terrace onto the pool as my husband has mobility issues. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The pool was nice but not very deep so difficult to swim lengths! The staff were very friendly and the buffet was ok. we ate one night in Batista's home next door which was beautiful and also had a good lunch at the yacht club up the road.

The newest hotel we stayed in Cuba. Great facilities, lovely swimming pool, and good breakfast. The views from the room were amazing. Highly recommended if you stop by Cienfuegos to see a nice city and rest well in a modern hotel.

Stayed here 2 nights while in Cienfuegos. Rooms are dated but clean and comfortable. Breakfast is terrific. Lobby bar serves great drinks and is comfortable. They have a nice pool but we did not use it. No time! Shops are reasonably priced.

Stayed for a couple of nights as part of an escorted tour. 
Lobby and entrance are modern. Restaurant was buffet style and ok. Some strange combinations of food (even allowing for the fact it is in Cuba!). Rooms are reasonably well equipped and comfortable. Silly things like no channel.guide for tv could be easily solved. Shower wasn't great and rooms could do with upgrading. Curtains not thick enough to keep light out. No locks on balcony doors and my room door wasn't secure, frame was loose! 
Worst problem was the noise at night from neighbouring clubs and pubs. Music was still going st 3 am. 

Friendly staff, but this hotel could easily be improved to make it so much better.

Great location

This was our final (4th) hotel on our tour.
Melia appear to be slowly getting to grips with things.
The reception areas are very good and you can be fooled into thinking the rooms are the same.
Sadly they need a refresh, but after 10 days in Cuba, we became accustomed to these things.
On our final morning, some of our group were greeted with dirty shower water.
It's Cuba.
The food is ok.
It's Cuba.
The bars were good.
The Wi-Fi...accessed by buying a card of course, was in limited areas, but by now my wife and I had actually had a good detox of the internet.
Cuba is good for that!
Cienfuegos is a lovely town to visit.
On Saturday night there was nearby and loud music until about 3am so it was noisier than being in Havana!
Our tour manager did tell us in advance that the doors to the balconies don't lock.
If you have security issues/are a lone traveller, you may not like that...understandably.

Needs some TLC, like so many things in Cuba

There's a great deal of potential here, but there are many areas needing improvement.  The lobby has lots of seating and some very interesting art work.  The breakfast area is large and the food is plentiful and good.  There's a nice garden area and a bar at poolside.  The rooms are not well air conditioned, but if you keep the curtains closed the room is definitely more comfortable.  The location is quite special with great views of the surroundings.
