Yangshuo Wada Hostel by Yulong River

We are young girls backpacking in China so you can understand our difficulty with language and food. When we arrived at Wada we literally had travelled for nearly 15 hours straight, however our faces lit up when we saw for the first time in China western and clean food!! We ate 4 meals per day there because we were so starving, the food was delicious!! They also had alcohol which is something we hadn’t seen in any other hostel in our 3 weeks in China!! Nancy also put a film on for us every night in English and chatted to us about our experience in China! She was one of the few people we met in China who spoke English and was friendly. But the best part about this hostel was that it’s located in a nature reserve, although slightly difficult to get to, it for us had the best views in the whole of China! It had views you only see in magazines and was completely free of cars, hotels and people. It’s basically yourself immersed in nature. The river was so beautiful and had bamboo boats going along it! We found out if you walk up the river for about 1 hour and a half there is a place you can get on a bamboo boat for so cheap and is a fraction of the price you would pay on a tour! Neither of us drive so I would suggest if your staying here for a week, you might be isolated and therefore I would stay in the sister branch in the centre of yangshou and then here for a couple of days! My only complaint is actually something out of the hotels control but there are a lot of big spiders in the hotel! However when we found a couple, we told reception and they sent the maintenance guy up to help us as both of us were scared of spiders!
