I just wanted to post that I was notified by Melia on Feb 17 that the resort will be closed.  I sent paperwork to them for the refund.  I received my refund sometime around April 20 back on my credit card.  Thank you Melia and good luck with the reno's.  With everything happening I can understand the decisions and I had been looking forward to coming but it will have to be when you guys are up and running.

Stayed as a guest during November while the hotel was largely shut down but accommodating health care workers for COVID hospital.  Staff were highly attentive to Infection Prevention, to social distancing, masks were worn and all the delicious meals were served with food and COVID safety in mind.  Beautiful location on clean, sandy beach with gorgeous pool and grounds.  Rooms were clean and well equipped with coffee maker and supplies for early morning coffee drinkers, small refrigerator for snacks and pleasant balcony for breezy days.  Many thanks for superb hospitality under greatly stressful times.

This was our very first time in Bahamas and Melia hotel made our stay incredible. We loved our hotel, it was very clean very nice, the food was delicious, the drinks were amazing and the the beach was super clean white sand. Decently recommend checking this place out

I was due to travel to The Bahamas at the end of March 2020. And I’d made my booking for the Melia Nassau Hotel through Hotel.com

I’ve tried calling/e-mailing hotel.com for the last 3 months for them to sort out my refund. And still hotel.com have not resolved my enquiry.

So today I decided that I was going to contact the hotel direct and do the job that hotel.com should be doing.

I contact Nikisha at Melia Nassau Hotel who was so helpful and manage to arrange my refund in less then an hour. That’s what I call excellent customer service. 

I will be travelling to the The Bahamas in the future and will definitely be booking this hotel.

We have been coming here for the last 10 years & I can honestly say WE have NEVER had any problems. Everyone is so welcoming & polite. Most of the staff welcomes us with open arms especially front desk (Wentworth) Melvern Williamson (Mel) has always made sure that our family has had an outstanding stay here at Melia. Mel always has a smile on her face & always making sure every guests in the resort is pleased & happy. Mel Williamson treats everyone with highly respect. I can’t wait to spend my vacation with Mel at Melia Resorts Nassau Bahamas the end of July 2020. You guys come & join us at Melia on your next vacation & we promise you will have the time of your life! See you guys Soon 💕

I went to this Melia in Nassau with my grade on our spring break and we had awesome service from bartender Monique. She was electric! She made our stay enjoyable and she livened up the beach for us. She was so helpful and even danced away the day with us one time. This was definitely a memorable trip to the Bahamas. Many thanks!

My boyfriend and I went to our friends wedding in November 2019. Natasha was our waitress in the Market place all 3 days we were there . She is amazing!!! She was so personable, attentive , and such a breath of fresh air even on the rainy days. Her smile was so inviting and by day 3 I would only sit in her section . The Melia was a great hotel, we had so much fun but Natasha made it so much more better. 5 out of 5 stars for us.

This was our first trip to the Bahamas. We fell in love. Melia delivered much more than we expected. We had a great time and the price was VERY affordable. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. The only complaint was a broken drain plug in the bathtub. We told the manager about it and he got right on it. 

This was my first time going to this beautiful island. The resort was amazing  everyone was nice and kind. Everyone was opening doors and making sure we was well taken care of. We realized earlier that day that we did not have any wash cloths and Leandra from house keeping was so nice to us and went out of her way to get us some fresh clean ones. Everyone here was really kind and made us feel so welcomed.  Especially Phillip and Dario (n) (cant really remember his name) at the main lobby bar they were lovely and very friendly. Also Charles at breakfast was really kind.

Excellent attention to details for COVID safety for guests

The Melia was the perfect location for our family vacation in February. The best part of the resort was definitely the beach - beautiful white sand and crystal clear blue water. The resort also provided floats and kayaks that you could borrow for free (if it wasn't too windy). Another awesome part of the hotel was the kids club! Our kids, 5 and 7, enjoyed the activities and crafts they had; and it gave us adults a few hours of free time to relax.  The food at restaurants was ok, but about what you would expect at an all-inclusive; and the rooms were clean and comfortable. We had an ocean view room and the view did not disappoint! Service was shaky, though, throughout the resort - with it being hit or miss depending on who the server was. 
One piece of advice when travelling to the Bahamas is that we did have a few days of our week vacation, which was at the end of February/beginning of March, that was pretty chilly - so if you are looking for a hot beach trip, you may want to consider going a little later in the spring/summer.  Also, at the end of our trip college spring break arrived and took over the resort - so I know for us, especially with little kids, that will be something we will be looking to avoid in the future!
Overall, though, I would recommend this resort, especially for those travelling with little ones, looking for a fun, relaxing and beautiful family vacation spot!

We had a trip planned for July. Like everybody else we found out in February that the hotel was closing. We were promised a refund. Here I am 6 months later and still nothing.  I filed a dispute with my credit card company and after Melia insisted and promised I would receive my refund I cancelled the dispute in good faith. I was wrong to do that. I have about 40 emails from Melia and I spoke to someone on the phone about 5 times and was assured by them over the phone not to worry. Now, as per credit card company, I can not open another dispute for the charge. Melia has told me to file a dispute and get my money that way. I am stuck and out $3300. Melia is a billion dollar company and they can not refund me my money for a vacation I never received. I didn’t go and say I had a bad time and want my money back… I didn’t go… Melia cancelled. This is criminal. I have no idea how this can happen.

Took my money

I was emailed in January and told that the hotel would be closed for refurbishment over the dates of my booking (June 2021) I have emailed and called more than 50 times since January and have still not received my refund. They are holding over £1,000 of my money. The date of my original reservation has now passed and I have still received nothing. Every now and again I receive a stock email saying they are 'processing' my refund. I know for a fact that you can process a refund in a day. The money they are holding does not belong to them so in my opinion this is criminal behaviour, very shocking from an internationally recognised brand. They also make it almost impossible to lodge a formal complaint. If they can afford to do a renovation they can afford to pay us what belongs to us. Will never be booking with Melia again and will advise others to steer well clear. I have now contacted the international consumer centre to begin legal action.

Stolen my money

We have been waiting for over a year for our approved COVID-19 related cancelled trip refund for a reservation we had all the way back in March 2020.  I have phone called or emailed at least 30 times.  You just get the run around.  No one with any authority will ever return calls/emails.  I sincerely believe they have stolen our money.  I have never been so disgusted or felt so helpless.  Do not make a reservation at this property!

BEWARE - Still waiting for Covid related cancelled trip refund.  Terrible customer service!  They have stolen our money!
