Appartements Trofana

Our family of four just returned from a week of skiing in Solden. It was probably our best week of skiing ever! The resort was perfect for our family (wide, groomed intermediate runs for the whole family and just enough black runs to keep mommy and daddy happy) and Apartment Trofana was perfect. It is about ten minute walk to the Gigijoch Gondola and you can store your skis at Sport4You for free, which is located about a block from the Gondola. The owners were very nice and friendly. For a two bedroom apartment we thought it was bit on the pricey side but it was well worth it and we are going to go back next year. Had free WiFi, parking, etc. One more thing about skiing in Solden.. We thought it would feel very crowded as we were there during the Austria "ski week." But, we found it very pleasant and we could always find areas which were nearly empty. The whole resort is connected by lifts and runs, so people naturally spread out to uncrowded areas. I've been to other ski resorts in Austria which were not well laid out and made it feel very crowded as people could not spread out without taking a bus. Not Solden... we really had a great experience there and I would highly recommend it for families. One last thing... they actually had crowd control at the gondolas, which meant less pushing and shoving to get in to the gondolas compared to some other Austrian resorts. This was very welcomed as we had to take the gondola up every morning with our two little kids.
