Hostel is kept in very clean conditions, staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is very ideal and it is a very social hostel. They are always looking to improve the hostel which is very good and are always happy to receive and implement feedback received

Long term stay

MM Broadway is a cosy little hostel at the edge of the city center which seems to be split evenly between longterm stays and travellers. I myself came as a longterm stay and ended up staying there for roughly 5 months. The vibe of the hostel is chill and comfortable. Travelling solo you are immediately made welcome and integrated into the group. If you are looking for a social hostel (not a party hostel) with a personality: come to Broadway!!!

Fantastic little hostel at the edge of the city center

Kitchen is well equipped, showers are spacious, great pressure & have shelves, free gym pass, movie room w/Netflix’s, great wifi, free laundry powder, fun free events, every1 is made to feel included 

Best Social Hostel in Sydney, frequent returner

Excellent hostel, cosy rooms with bed lights. Near a park with swings and the historic Landsdowne. Rory is very friendly and all the staff are great, they have cool uniform, they just need more signs about recycling.

Stay forever!

Really fun, clean hostel with amazing staff that were always happy to go the extra mile. Best showers i've ever experienced in a hostel too. The hostel is in a great location, right next to a shopping centre and a 3 minute bus ride into Central. There are free events each evening too which I really enjoyed, it was a great chance to meet new people.

My favourite hostel in Sydney

I made a reservation at "Mad Monkey Backpackers Broadway" through booking.com, at a non-refundable rate (as it was the only option I remember seeing available). Due to a personal problem I had to suddenly leave Australia and I asked in advance if something could be done and they told me that because I booked through booking nothing could be done. Then I contacted customer service at booking.com and they told me they didn't have any issue asking the property to do the refund, however the property said no again.

I understand that my purchase said " non refundable" however right now hostels are fully booked in Sydney and they could have someone to replace me in a single day, however they decided to not make any exceptions and not help me out. They will have the money from my booking, plus the money that for sure they will get from someone else for the bed they will be booking twice.

At the time I was staying at YHA central and when I did an early check out, without even me asking for it, they told me I was leaving earlier and they offered me a refund for the days I was not staying, without even any prior notice of my departure. In my opinion that's proper customer service, not following the rules by the book just to make more money, but actually being helpulf and understanding.

If you are reading this and you are looking for a hostel to stay in Sydney, definitely try YHA before booking with a property that won't help you in case of the many issues that could happen during a trip.

Bad service

The people/staff definitely make this hostel what it is. I've stayed here several times as a result of their amazing hospitality. Kerry and her team, will do anything and everything possible to make your stay run as smoothly as possible. On the odd occasion there was an issue, it was dealt with swiftly and thoroughly. Be sure to make use of the free gym passes, gym is top notch. Great location, close to Broadway Shopping Centre and a quick bus ride or walk to Central Station. Good range of events on weeknights too.

Amazing hostel!

Me and my boyfriend stayed here in a private room for a couple of nights. The room was so lovely and homely. So much space and we had our own kettle to make tea & coffee. The manager Carlos was incredibly welcoming and the night manager on the desk was also very friendly when we turned up around 10pm to check in. There is an awesome free breakfast, a tv chill out area and nice kitchen. Free wifi also provided and a code system for the front door which was really great and secure. Location was incredibly central; just a short walk to the central train traction, across the road from a lovely park and mall. Would definitely stay here again! 

Fantastic hostel!

It all depends what kind of stay you want. The photos of the hostel I feel are a bit misleading, it's definitely a bit more run down since they were taken however the location is good, 15mins walk to Central Station, they offer free gym passes, the showers are clean and they offer a decent breakfast. They also do activities and food nights and based on this it is quite a lively hostel, so if you are in for a more chilled vibe don't book here. There seems to be A LOT of long term guests and staff as all the kitchen space (shelves and fridges) were taken up by them. The kitchen was also packed out each evening by the guests that had already made a group that didn't seem welcoming which made it quiet awkward at times. It worked for our trip (stayed 1 week in a double room) but in all honesty we wouldn't book here again. Doesn't mean to say it wouldn't be suitable for others such as solo/young travellers and those on a budget.

Ok Stay

Stayed in a room of four with an ensuite for 1 month. 

Really enjoyed meeting loads of people at breakfast where majority was German, British and Welsh. So a great mix of people. For me It was great to form relationships and hangout with people.

Everyone is in the same situation so at ease to mix in. 

The rooms were spotless daily and always were cleaned throughout the day. 
I will miss the place alot especially the people.
