The lodge is in a private concession full of wild animals. You can see everyday elephants coming to the lodge waterhole for drinking and bathing.People in the staff are very kind and ready to accomplish to all requests.Our salary guide Munya was great

Another outstanding visit to Ivory Lodge. The courtesy and responsiveness of the staff is without equal. Great game drives. The watering hole just outside the rooms brought an abundance of wildlife. Bathrooms in the rooms could use a bit of updating and wifi in the rooms would be nice. But really very little to complain or worry. This was my 4th visit over the last 25yrs and will definitely come again.

A real gem hidden in the bush. You will be beyond surprised when you arrive at Ivory Lodge. From the amazing thatch lounge that looks onto the watering hole to the friendly staff that give it its homely feel. My room overlooked elephant and buck at the watering hole on arrival. A short walk to the viewing  deck took me the closest I have ever been to an elephant. Bring a camera as game is abundant. Sipping G&T’s with Khulu and the team a real highlight.Highly recommend.

This lodge was our home for 3 nights on Overseas Adventure Travel's "Southern Africa & Lake Kariba" adventure. It was a perfect place to spend those nights after spending the days in the bush looking for and seeing animals nearby and at Hwange National Park. The staff was friendly and very helpful from the moment we arrived. The amenities were perfect for a safari adventure but not so rustic as to feel like we were really camping. Loved it.

Our time at Ivory Lodge just wasnt long enough! A truly amazing setting with the watering hole attracting many animals all day long. We were welcomed by a very friendly team who looked after us throughout, the food was delicious and the accommodation was exceptional and looked over the watering hole. Our Safari experience was lead by Zeb who had an immense amount of knowledge and added to our truly amazing experience. Thankyou to everyone at Ivory Lodge i would recommend this lodge to anyone when visiting Hwange.

What an amazing experience! Ivory lodge has comfortable cabins which let you see animals from your deck! They have fantastic guides for the game drives. They even have excellent food.
Staying right in among the animals is the way to go if you visit Hwange. This stop turned out the be the highlight of my trip.

What a great way to start our Safari adventure!  The staff was terrific, great food and service.  So close to the elephants, we had to skip our introductory session for the camp.  If you have the chance to stay here, do it!  Intimate location and definitely up close with the elephants!  Loved it!

Love this Lodge

We were a group of six people going here together. I'm so happy that we chose this lodge for our safari trip. The staff was very friendly and took real good care of us making sure we had everything we needed. The rooms were super comfortable, and the view was fantastic!

Shamis, our guide, was great! She made each game drive super exciting, she was well experienced and answered all of our questions. I hadn't expected the game drives to be so educational but I learned so much! She really gave her best I can tell!!!

We experienced amazing sunsets, spotted tons of animals and had super cozy lunch and dinner back at the lodge with great service.

I can only recommend this place to others, and again I'm very very happy I chose to stay here.

Wonderful experience!

What a magical place to stay! So close to Hwange National Park but you won't even need to go that far... The hide near the watering hole is a magical place. The experience of sitting that close to wild elephants is still making me happy weeks' later. Then there was the herd of buffalo just outside our door one dawn...

Our Game Guide, Shamie, was the biggest highlight. She was passionate and highly knowledgeable about the animals we saw. Dedicated to giving us the best experience ever, Shamie went above and beyond for us. OK, it was very hot. But coming in the dry season is great for animal spotting. A brief list of some of the animals we saw: elephants (so many!), lions, impala, kudu, Sable deer, wild painted dogs, giraffes, zebras, hyenas, jackals. 

The Lodge is an oasis of calm and peace. The Manager Joel is the consummate professional ensuring highly attentive but unobtrusive service.
Jameson and all of the staff were warm and friendly. 

The Lodge is rustic and unobtrusive in its natural environment. A perfect balance of comfort, mod cons and getting away from it all.

Thank you to all of the Ivory Lodge team. I don't hesitate to recommend. You'll go back home feeling like you've made new friends and dazzled by the experiences you've had.


Wow - beautiful animals, amazing people, fantastic lodge

I cannot begin to describe the feeling that my family got from Ivory Lodge.  The staff was AMAZING.  CJ and the rest of the staff were beyond friendly.  Five star service, five star food and that's before I even get to our guide, Munya, who was simply the best part of our trip to Africa.  He was so knowledgeable an put up with all of our questions with patience, a sense of humor and insight to the plants and animals of Hwange.  I would rate them higher than 5 stars if I could.

The setting is lovely and we did not mind the short ride to the national park.  There were plenty of things to look at on the way,  The rooms were spacious, clean and ours had beautiful views.  My son decided that afternoons in the hide were his favorite.  

I can't recommend the Ivory Lodge highly enough.

Heaven on Earth

Staying here gives you that authentic experience of living in the Bush with the animals. The highlight for me at this lodge was their viewing deck (and hide) by the pond. Daily, animals like elephants and buffalos visit to get water. Watching them from the viewing area is awesome because you are so close. You could sit there and watch them for hours, for you are just mesmerized. 

The customer service is outstanding, regardless of their positions. Everyone is pleasant, helpful and genuinely wants to make your stay a memorable one. You truly feel cared for here and they love to chat with you.  The food is very good with a nice variety each evening. Compliments to the Chef! They will accommodate any dietary restriction. Everyone eats together for dinner at the scheduled time. It's a great way to meet the others staying at the lodge. Because it was winter, a fire was always going in the evening, which was much appreciated. People would come down prior to dinner to relax and have a drink by the fire. 

The room was comfortable with a nice deck. As with other lodges, it is up on stilts with a nice view of the waterhole. Coffee and tea always available in the main tent or in your room. Unfortunately, because it was Winter, the room was freezing! I wish they had a space heater to help produce some heat like another lodge I stayed at with the same layout. They do provide electric blankets which is great for when you are sleeping, but when getting dressed or using the bathroom, you are cold! The bed was nice and comfortable, for I struggled with mattresses at other locations. The water pressure in the sink and shower is very weak so bathing is a challenge. There was hot water though. Outlets were provided to charge your devices. 

The guides were awesome! Always trying their best to see animals and educate you on the animals and the area. Very knowledgeable with great personalities.  The vehicles are comfortable, and I liked that the guides go off the main path sometimes in the hopes of seeing different animals. 

There is no Wi-Fi and what little there is....is useless. Wi-Fi is only available in the main tent, which would be ok, if it worked. They give you a few tokens for wi-fi but it only lasts a minute or two and is extremely slow. Basically, you won't be able to get online while staying there. If you want to look something up, get in touch with your airline, touch base with work, etc... you are out of luck. I know you are supposed to disconnect while on vacation, but this is the real world. I wish they would invest in a stronger router; it would be a nice perk for the guests. I had no problems with Wi-fi at other lodges. 

If you want that rustic, genuine African experience, then this is the place for you! It is a lovely lodge, and I would recommend it. Very welcoming.
