Khanh Huyen Hotel

We were greeted off the bus by a very smiley man - Mr Thom. We hadn't booked anything in Cat Ba and he invited us to have a look at the hotel. We loved the rooms over looking the bay and with a great price (6$) we couldn't refuse ! Clean, simple and comfortable beds with air conditioning and a good wifi connection (when close to router). Mr Thom has recently taken over the management of the hotel - 6 days before our stay, which unfortunately for him has terrible reviews on here. He is a really kind and honest man who does great prices for buses, tours - Halong Bay start around 20$ (but negotiate and ask around and he'll match the best price), motorbikes, ... We only wanted to stay for one night originally and ended up staying three ! Another plus : the food and drinks in the hotel's restaurant are very reasonably priced (better than the others along that street) If you are heading to Cat Ba don't let the previous reviews or his slightly extravagant nature put you off (old manager has left thankfully !!).
