Maivien Orchard Resort

Awesome staff, very affordable accommodation, great location on the river (bit far away from town though), tasty and cheap food, and the cruises are good value for money if more than 5 people sign up (make sure to talk to your neighbours). The bungalow and villa are what blew me away. Bungalows are open and close to nature, you can see chickens foraging through the gaps in the floorboards, the bathroom overlooks private gardens, and the villa is beautifully wild with a few hammocks, a small common area, and lots of trees and water. (I think Booking.com says it has a spa and rec room, which it does not, but for $6 I wasn't going to complain.) The beds have mosquito nets to keep the buggers out, mosquitos were the only negative experience here but so close to the water, that's what we expected! Maybe not perfect for people who want a luxury resort, or who are scared of bugs (as they sometimes get into the rooms), but perfect for anyone wanted to be immersed in nature.
