This is a great hotel to enjoy the Catskills, especially in the fall. My wife and I stayed here at the Captain's Inn for a short getaway. I recommend the valley view rooms for a breathtaking morning sunrise view. Room was very spacious. Captain Wayne (a real captain) and first mate Rosie are super friendly and hospitable. Simple but filling continental breakfast. The hotel is an easy 10 minute drive to nearby Wyndham, 20 min to Kaaterskill Falls, and 30 min drive to Catskill/Hudson.  Highly recommend for a relaxing and fun trip.

If you are looking for a weekend getaway from the NYC area. Just two hours north is Windham mountain peaking at 3,150 ft (1,000 meters). This is my second time staying at Captain's Inn. I definitely recommend the valley view rooms if available. The morning sunrises are spectacular. See photos. Owned and operated by a real sea captain. 
The cap is friendly and knows every guests first name. This is the kind of of friendly service you'll experience here. If you are here during the warmer months, I'd recommend a patio lunch or dinner at 2,000 feet with a view. See Shrimp scampi photo. Overall, it is a great spot to relax and disconnect from NYC's rat race.

I stopped at this place for lunch today for the first time. The food was outstanding and the bill was reasonable. I paid the bill and left to get I to my car and the owner came running out and said "excuse me you seemed to have dropped this under your chair" and was holding 2 $100 bills! I checked my money clip and apparently the bills had fallen out as I put my change from the tab back into it. I would have never known this until I went to pay for something else MUCH later in my day!!

On Monday June 10, 2019 my wife and I - together with another couple patronized this outstanding restaurant for their "Prime Rib" night. It was the second time we visited and it is my habit to not rate a restaurant unless we experience the food, service and dining room at least two times. Consistent with our last visit the food and prices were both beyond acceptable but this time we got to watch the team exhibit  their problem solving skills. Shortly after we were seated a storm blew into the area as we looked out the the enormous windows peering north. Suddenly the electric power went out as the late spring windy, cloudy and rainy sunset approached. The staff never missed a beat - they continued to serve the mostly filled dining room and had no problem checking out checks manually. We enjoyed the food and the candle lit dining and were impressed with our waitress' calm and reassuring approach to service. This is a great place that all in the northern Catskill area should experience!

The rooms are very simple but have everything you need for a nice stay.  Everything was clean and up to date.  The bed was comfy and they supplied heavier blankets in case it was needed.  This is a very green place, meaning that unless you need room service and request it, they will not come in and replace the towels or make the beds.

The bathroom has a tub and shower.  You have to go up a short flight to get to the rooms since they are above the restaurant.  (We had lunch there and the food was very good.)

The valley view is breathtaking!  We had room #8 and were floored!  Living in the city, seeing all the sky, trees and  mountains was so wonderful.  Since there was no moon when we stayed, it was a haunting yet beautiful view at night!

The Captain was very welcoming and sweet.  He made you feel welcomed.  Next time we are in the area, we definitely look forward to staying here again!

The owners are so sweet and welcoming. They made us feel very comfortable and made sure we had everything we needed. The view we had from our room was breathtaking. The room was clean and kept up with. The restaurant was also nice and had a good variety of choices. I highly recommend staying here and would definitely come back!

At Captain Inn there was great food it had all different types of food! The views were great in the hotel. the hotel has both views of the mountainside and the valley. the captain was very nice to everyone. we also like the bar!

Simple, clean rooms. Short drive to the mountain. Very cozy mom&pop feel. The dining room has a gorgeous view overlooking the mountain valley below. The Captain is a sweet man who was kind enough to refund a night of our stay when we had to leave early.

Loved my stay at Captains Inn Point Lookout! Great food, service and an even better view. Nestled in the Catskills you have a view of 5 States. The Captian was an amazing host! The Inn has a great "homey" & family feel. 10/10 would recommend.

Well I'll start with the room, it was fine, a little out dated but comfortable. I use to go hunting across the street from the place 30+ years ago with my father and friends of ours, we loved staying here for the view and the service and friendly atmosphere. I stayed here the summer of 2020 with my son, my daughter and a friend of hers, and they loved it. I will be going back soon.
