We had to stay a bit off our usual track due to busy seasonal demand, but what a lovely find.   Very welcoming with tea and snacks on arrival, followed by superb breakfast in the morning.    We could only stay for 2 nights, but would have liked to stay longer as it was so comfortable and peaceful with beautiful views beyond the lovely garden.     The extra bonus is a good old fashioned pub just a few minutes walk away which saved driving out in the evenings.   We hope to return.

We chose Bowes House because it looked such a pretty B & B. Very friendly welcome from the owner and it was so relaxed it was like visiting family. Tea and lemon tart was very welcome on arrival.  We had the  superior room with en suite and very large comfy bed !  The gardens were beautiful and everywhere very peaceful.  We could have breakfast when we wanted.  Fruit compote from the garden homemade yogurt bread and cereal. Cooked breakfast whatever you wanted all beautifully cooked.  So good that no lunch was needed ! what a wonderful find for a B & B.

3 of us stayed on Saturday night midway through a weekend cycling trip through Devon, Dorset and Somerset. It was perfect for our needs. 

Lisa was very welcoming offering tea and crumpets on arrival. Showers were hot, local pub a short walk away with tasty, filling food, comfortable beds, great cooked breakfast plus home made marmalade and rhubarb, perfect quiet location. 

Oh, and did I mention the cracking tailwind we'd had most of the day which took the sting out of the formidable climbs? And the unusually polite and unhurried car drivers in Dorset?

Our plans had to change for New Year due to family illness so this was a last minute booking for us to make the most of some time off work. 
We were made to feel really welcome by Lisa & Kelham and they were both very helpful regarding the local area and trusting with their lovely family home. Bedrooms were great and just what we needed - comfort and quality. The open fire in the lounge was lovely and a real focal point for us as a family. Some lovely memories to take back home. Thanks! My Fiance and I called last minute to book this little B&B not knowing what to expect. We were beyond surprised to find a lovely family home opened up to guests. Our hostess, even with such little warning, made us feel warm and welcome. The Admiral Hood, just around the corner, offers a great meal and friendly service.
Absolutely would stay again.
