A well kept B&B run by a lovely, friendly couple.  Only a short walk from Ambleside and very close to a bus stop with frequent buses all through the central Lakes.

Quick check in, very good breakfast, comfortable and clean room. The owners are very friendly and provide great suggestions for walking trails or places to see / eat. Walking distance to several restaurants and beautiful trails.

We stayed at the Wanslea on a short motorcycle trip to Ambleside. The rooms were spotless and the building is in an excellent location. A member of our party was staying in another hotel but the owners of the Wanslea were kind enough to accommodate him for breakfast. The entire experience was lovely and the owners were incredibly welcoming. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

Lovely stay. Warm welcome from Steve on arrival. Explained parking, limited at property but free at pay and display when displaying parking card that Steve gave us.Fantastic room, very spacious. Tea, coffee, glasses, cork screw, iron and ironing board.Great breakfast, order evening before. Cereal, juice available also. Steve and Tina were excellent hosts...not forgetting Charlie. Definitely recommended.

Found a delightful guest house in Ambleside with friendly hosts, Steve and Tina. Our room (1) was spacious, comfortable, and nicely decorated.  The room was to the back of the property and was very quiet. It had a small car park, but there are free passes for the carpark nearby.    Breakfast was a choice from a set menu which was freshly made.

Stayed at Wanslea and overall an excellent stay and will 100% stay again in the future.Owner does everything to help and very friendly. Just out the centre but that’s no issue. Perfect for nearby hikes.

Great stay

A great find

Wanslea Guest House is a comfortable and welcoming place. It is close to shopping and food as well as a short walk to the Windermere cruises. The hosts are so helpful, without being intrusive. Steve’s recommendations for walks and excursions are invaluable. The breakfasts are delicious! I cannot recommend Wanslea highly enough and would definitely visit again.

Booked a single room for 3 nights, which was on the top floor. The owners were very warm and welcoming when I arrived, plus the additional excited welcome from little Charlie was adorable. The room was lovely and clean, bed was comfy and bathroom was spotless. Shower was a good pressure and temperature and I love that they use Out of Eden bathroom products, both eco friendly and cruelty free. Breakfast was served between 8 and 8.45, which you chose the night before, and was absolutely delicious with a good selection to choose from. By staying here you also get a discount at a couple of restaurants in the town and a parking pass for various car parks in the local area, which is a bonus. There is limited parking on site (I’d say max 3-4 vehicles) but the pass gives you free parking at the car park roughly 4 doors down from the guesthouse.It’s a great location, only a short walk in to the town and the waterfront. I had a slight issue with the temperature of the room on the first night, I was very cold overnight, but the owners were so helpful when I brought it up and offered to put an extra heater in my room with an additional duvet. This really helped make my stay more comfortable. Thank you Tina and Steve for everything and I hope your break is as enjoyable as mine.

Lovely guesthouse in a lovely location

Been staying at the wanslea for years now, before Steve, Tina and Charlie arrived and it was good then but they've definitely taken it to another level. It feels like our second home, from arriving to leaving they are genuinely interested in how you are, what you have been doing, spotlessly clean, wonderful breakfast. Ample parking and if not at the guest house there are free parking permits available, not everywhere does that!

Just an amazing place with great hosts tina and steve who are the nicest couple you could meet . great rooms great price great breakfast . we been coming here for years and it never changes it just gets better and more at home every time we come . the rooms are huge and spotless and we watched the fireworks over the lake from our room . stunning place well worth a visit

Just got back home after a 3 night stay at The Wanslea Guesthouse, what can I say only Superb stay 
Had a warm welcome from Steve and Tina 
The rooms were really nice spacious and very clean 
The breakfast was up there with one of the best I’ve had  just as I like it fresh and served hot couldn’t fault it 
Tina’s homemade flapjacks were delicious 
Will definitely return when in staying in the Lakes again 

Great Stay 

Perfect location between the town and lake side with parking available. A beautiful building with gorgeous and immaculate rooms (Africa for us). The perfectly cooked breakfast to start off the day before those walks was very welcome. What ultimately sets this aside above all else are the hosts Steve & Tina. From the moment we arrived to the second we left we were looked after impeccably, we left as if we had known them years. Their recommendations and help planning our days were invaluable and thus we had an amazing memory filled anniversary break. Don’t think twice get it booked!Thanks again. It was absolutely fabulous and we will definitely be back. J&C

Absolutely fabulous!

5 minutes walk from centre and across the road from garden centre this b&b is immaculate. We had a large room with a lovely walk in shower. Breakfast is ordered the night before and both mine & hubby's was perfectly cooked with plenty of toast and tea/coffee. A great place to stay and a lovely couple AND Charlie the Bedlington terrier.
