Stayed in the Hawkshead  Lodge, no 22.  Absolutely beautiful lodge and stunning location.  The lodge is brand new.  We were 4th people stay in it.  Immaculate everywhere.  It was too nice to use.  Beds comfortable, slept lovely.  View from decking and hot tub made it extra special. A real treat!!!!

We have only just returned home yesterday after staying 4 night's in the Croft barn.

We couldn't have wished for a more perfect retreat.
The staff in the office on site were so helpful and accomodating, nothing too much trouble.

The barn was immaculate and had everything you would need self catering.

The bedrooms were to a high standard for comfortable and cleanliness. 

The living area and kitchen again very lovely.

The hot tub absolutely wonderful overlooking the fields and trees. 

We would love to return as the whole experience was perfect.

Hint for eating out The Sun Inn just along the road is fabulous.

The location and lodge was stunning! We were in the Ambleside lodge and we felt this one was the best in terms of where it was situated. Plenty of lovely surroundings along with having the seclusion for the hot tub. Plenty of decking space for the dogs and a very dog friendly place! Owner is lovely and Arthur (The rescue dog) was an absolute cutie pie. The only thing I wasn't too happy on was the cleanliness of the en-suite & bathroom... Lots of mould on the silicon - obviously mould a lot of the time can't be helped when it comes to these but if cleaners kept on top of this then it would prevent these problems going forward. Also spent a lot of time cleaning out the hoover as it wouldn't **** up anything on the floor, normally this wouldn't be too big of an issue but with having two dogs that cast quite a bit it would've been nice to have a hoover that worked along with also being a bit more cleaner as I had to also empty it upon arrival along with soaking it and cleaning out the suction area.. Still didn't help much.These are obviously just small details that I hope they may improve on in the future.. However this will definitely not stop me on returning to this lovely area! Hopefully go when the weather is better so we can enjoy the lake with the dogs.Lots of walks nearby within driving distance, lots of bus stops for people who don't drive, plenty of buses going around. Huge amount of dog friendly cafe's, pubs etc and just an overall amazing experience to have a break away with the fur babies.

We've visited here for the past 5 years and its just the best location for a quiet and relaxing family holiday. Right on the side of the lake and with views that never disappoint regardless of the weather.

This time we stayed in the Broadness Lodge (sleeps 6 and one of the more updated lodges). This lodge is as close to the lake as you can get and right on the edge of the park. Everything was ready on arrival and the lodge was clean and comfortable.

Park team have always been great.

A couple of tips
- Fishing isn't that good on-site unless you can get a boat. The lake is shallow around the edges (around .5m) and you can't practically get out to the deeper water.  
- The 'named' lodges seem to be more modern and generally better all around e.g. Broadness and Mockerin. 
- The Sun Inn in Bassenthwaite is good. In Keswick - The Round burger restaurant is cracking - can't book but worth the wait.
- Lodges we've stayed in always have basic surface cleaner, dishwasher tabs and clothes.
- If you can get one with a hot tub - honestly it's worth it to sit out and enjoy the views in a warm tub after a long walk.
- If you are planning on doing walks then consider joining the National Trust as many of the car parks are run by them and you get free parking as a member. Otherwise, you can expect a day rate of at least £8.50 (minimum change is £5 for a couple of hours).  Most car parks have card readers but don't rely on using the apps as phone reception can be hit or miss in the more remote car parks.

I cannot rave about this stay enough. Our lodge was absolutely beautiful, clean, with everything we could possibly need. The welcome gifts were so so thoughtful as well. The view was stunning. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Close enough to some lovely dog friendly pubs within in a 5 minute drive. Lovely place to walk and chill. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. The most relaxed I’ve been in a long time.

What a place! Dog friendly lakeside lodge in the middle of Bassenthwaite close to Keswick, Lake District, UK. Gorgeous views throughout, private hot tub and just what you need for a relaxed UK getaway with your doggies! 1 week with no worries, all your necessary amenities close by, wasn’t long enough. I will be returning, many thanks guys!

Beautiful lodge in a perfect setting. Everything appeared brand new. It has everything you need and then some! Exceptionally clean and tidy.  Cannot fault it at all. Milk in the fridge, tea/coffee starter pack, together with drinks and snacks. What more could you ask for! The staff both on the telephone and on site are really friendly and nothing is any bother. There's even a small play area for the little ones on site, dvds available to loan from reception. They really do cater for all your needs. We had a fantastic holiday (despite storms and power cuts!). Cannot wait to visit again. One of the best lodges/sites I've been on in over 30 years of visiting the Lakes. Thank you for a lovely holiday! Looking forward to booking with you again!

Absolutely beautiful! We stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate my dads 60th birthday. I had let the staff know before hand and asked if there was anything they could do to decorate the lodge. When we arrived they had put balloons and banners up, there were bottles of beer, a bottle of Prosecco, free snacks and a little game to play. It helped make the weekend that much more special. The lodge was immaculate and the hot tub so well maintained with incredible views. The lodge is so well equipped. We stayed in the absolute pet lodge number 53. 
We will definitely be coming back here for family holidays. Thank you for an amazing weekend.

Fantastic stay in the Hardknot lodge. We arrived about 8pm and we’re surprised when someone came round to the lodge to make sure we had got here ok and to show us how to work the hot tub- we’ve never had this at other sites and it was very much appreciated. The lodge itself was immaculate inside, had everything we needed! When we noticed we didn’t have a chopping board a lovely lady at Reception got us one. We had issues with our door and cooker and someone came over within 10 minutes to help, honestly can’t fault the service here. The bed were very comfortable and surprisingly big! Plenty of storage inside the lodge too. Towels provided were big and very soft. The site itself is so picturesque, you could be anywhere in the world! The location provides a fantastic base to explore the lakes and there are some lovely local walks too. Only thing we could have asked for is maybe some some inductions as to how to work the gas oven as we were quite unsure, it would have saved us having to call someone out to help after our long journey. Overall this is by far the best site we have stayed at in terms of lodge holidays and we would definitely return and recommend to everyone! Thank you!

This place is just so peaceful lodge has everything you need for your stay and the views are just amazing. The added bonus is the large field for our dog which he just loves. Cant wait for next year to return. Keep up the good work Chris and your team.

Perfect stay

Very nice spacious lodge, had everything we needed. Hot tub over looked the lake, and mountains, wonderful to sit have a drink and relax in beautiful surroundings. Beds very comfy. Very peaceful. Only bug bear was having to check out at 9am, a little early, breakfast was a bit of a rush which wasn't a great way to end our break.

Returned home on Fri 16/06 from another fab 7 night stay, which was our 4th in total & 2nd stay in Burthwaite Lodge which is ideal for us as it’s dog friendly, next to the meadow to walk in & close to the lake for kayaking. Chris & the Team are lovely & after a warm welcome from Jean upon our arrival Wez popped in to remind us how to use the hot tub & quickly sorted an issue with our door. Complimentary treats of milk, beer, fizz, crisps & the dogs welcome pack are lovely touches & the lodge is always very clean with lots of fluffy towels, immaculate linen & comfy beds for a great night sleep. The BBQ worked great but if guests don’t want to cook 3 good local eating places are Ravenstone Manor, the Sun Inn & Pheasant Inn. Cockermouth is a nice town with the Moon & Sixpence being a nice place for a coffee & the Distillery & quirky Bassenthwaite Station Café are worth a visit too.

Other than us feeling check-out at the lodges could be a bit later than 9am & it'd be nice to use the hot tub until 10.30pm instead of 10pm, we don't usually have negatives as we love it here but we did notice this time our lounge carpet was a bit tired with brown stains on it & all the sealant had come away from the shower tray showing a gap in the first bathroom (which reported upon check-out). The lodges are well equipped but 2 items not provided which we desperately needed due to the relentless heat was a fan to keep inside cool as it was like an oven our whole stay (even leaving windows open wide & keeping rooms dark with the curtains made no difference) & also a patio umbrella/parasol would have been good for the decking as ours was in full hot sun from 9.30am until evening making it uncomfortable to sit outside. Even the patch of astro turf on our deck got so hot we could hardly walk on it. As there was nowhere to hide from the sun on our first full day I went to Reception at 9.30am on Sunday to ask if we could have an umbrella (having skin cancer a few years ago means I can’t sit in full sun). The lodge info pack advises Reception is open from 9am - 11am on Sunday’s but it was locked & still appeared locked an hour later. We didn’t deem it urgent enough to call the emergency number on the door & disturb anyone unnecessarily so instead we asked the guy checking our hot tub on Monday Morning if there were any umbrella’s. He thought they were in the shed & said to visit Reception so we popped in but were told there were none & umbrella’s are no longer provided to rental lodges & haven't been for years as guests kept leaving them up to blow about causing damage. Wez acknowledged though our lodge was fully exposed to the sun & Jean said guests from another lodge had just been in to also ask for an umbrella, so we clearly weren't the only ones with the issue. Later that day I was chatting to a nice lodge owner who was also under the impression umbrella’s were in the shed. We visited Cockermouth but couldn’t even buy one there but luckily we'd brought deck chairs so in the end we took them in the meadow each day under the trees by the lake to enjoy some shade there. 
We love this place & will certainly return & whilst we appreciate patio umbrella’s left up in bad weather cause issues, we find it odd with the majority of lodges being in full sun most of the day in mid-summer heat waves with no breeze there are no outside shade/canopy options at all to offer guests so they can still enjoy sitting out on their decks comfortably. Moving forwards as summers are predicted to get hotter & families with dogs & young children stay at the lodges & will also want to sit out/eat on their decking, we think patio umbrella’s, plus fans for inside, is something the Team should seriously consider supplying for summer months & if as many notices are put up in lodges about umbrella’s similar to the hot tubs notices, I’m sure guests will be sensible with them.
