I was dredding coming after booking them reading reviews !! But was pleasantly suprised lodge is clean enough .. plenty to do for kids aged 6-12 .. swimming pool warm don’t have to book anymore .. entertainment good some activities through the day too .. restaurant mainly pub food but a nice get away for family and not too rammed .. site could do with a update and believe there working on it .. will definitely return 

Emily on the bar was excellent made me feel so welcome. JEZ in reception could not do enough to help and assist. JAMIE entertainment manager took me and some other guests Archery so helpful and madebus all feel welcome.JUSTINE removed broken glass within minutes of my reporting it. The whole experience of our stay was excellent, the camp is being upgraded & I can't wait to return next year. Thank you all. 

We were welcomed on arrival by a cheerful lady at the reception desk.
She advised us of the location of the caravan and drew the exact location on a map. 
We purchased a few necessities from the well stocked shop, which was very reasonably priced, and went and parked on our caravans driveway. 
The caravan itself was immaculately clean. 
Everything worked as it should, hot water, shower, TV, and even WiFi connection in the caravan. 
Beds were made up for the size of our party.  
On site facilities were brilliant.
We used the kids entertainment venue on all 3 of our nights, as we were on a family holiday. 
My 2 children felt comfortable straight away with the friendly staff, who were very engaging, and involved everyone in the entertainment. 
Princes are about average for what I would expect to pay in a bar on a holiday park. 
We used the arcade which the kids loved, and was bigger than on other holiday parks we have stayed on.
We didn't use the food facilities so we can't comment on those. 
We also used the pool on 2 occasions, kids had a great time. 
My partner did comment on the cleanliness in the lady's changing room, but I would imagine this could have been due to the weather and people's shoes, and the gents were absolutely fine. 
The surrounding area is beautiful. 
I would recommend the amusements on the seafront and the cafe is very good.
Carlisle has many attractions and is about 40 mins away, if the weather isn't great. 
I would recommend this holiday park to families with children. 
It really is ideal.

Just back from Mon-Fri stay at Solway Holiday Village. We had a fantastic holiday. Lodge was spotless, hot tub was amazing and checked/cleaned every morning. Staff are all so friendly and helpful. The entertainment team are just brilliant, with activities running through the day and evening to keep kids entertained. The pool is lovely and warm. The wee train is fab too.  We were sad to leave this morning but we will be back soon.

Spend weekend with my family, great lodge clean and lots of space.  2 bed with one double bed and single  plus bunk beds, renovated bathroom. Hot tub checked every day. Nice quiet place, lots to do with kids. Definitely will come back

We booked 7 days with Hoseasons about a week before travel and then the night before the trip, I got around to reading the reviews. I do usually read reviews and then book, however, the property sold it for me. I was devastated to read some of the worst reviews and even contemplated cancelling, however, at 11pm the night before, there was nothing that could be done. With three excited children, we had no choice but to go to Solway. Completely expecting the worst, we left anyways and I thought that if it was that bad, we could just leave and stay in a hotel somewhere. 

We booked a Swift premium 3 bedroom with hot tub. It is absolutely immaculate. There was a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival, which was most welcomed after an awful drive! Check in, took literally, seconds. We were given a map and advised that the van would be open. We arrived at about 6.45pm. The drive around the campsite was easy and we found everywhere to be clean and tidy. You can tell that some of the statics were brand new, some were older, and there is 1 or 2 that look like they've been here since 1980 and need a good clean HOWEVER, the view from the rear of the van as I write this is all lovely new looking caravans and nice green grass and trees. The park is lovely and quiet. 

There is a kids soft play area which the kids love, it isn't unkempt or dated. It's painted with Disney characters in bright colours and we found it to be clean - the main thing is, the kids absolutely loved it. Plenty of balls in the ball pools and a lovely big slide. The staff monitor it and I've seen a few of them pop their heads in to ensure everything is going OK.  There is a small arcades section with a mixture of games and 2p slots and the usual grab toy things. There's a good selection in a reasonable sized space, with some air puck tables which we enjoyed. The room is a good size and if you're watching several kids at once, you can monitor them easily. Our kids loved it. There's also some 'guaranteed win' machines to make the little ones happy. 

The Nags head is far from dated! It's a modern looking wine bar type place, with a couple of pool tables at the back and a massive screen with football on every night! It was busy and the drinks are reasonably priced. It is immaculate. There is also a large restaurant area to the side which was immaculate. We didn't think much of the menu - it is basic, but there is a kids menu and quite varied. You can get Lasagne or Steak and Ale Pie, or burgers - locally sourced from a Butchers. 

Staff were exceptionally kind - we have an autistic child and on several occasions they really went out of their way for us. This prevented meltdowns and any parent of a child with autism will know, just how important this is. All of the staff we came across were polite and friendly. 

The shop does not close at 5pm? I don't know why someone wrote that. It's well stocked and open until 9pm, which does come in handy since the local shops are quite far. There's a Premium shop down the road somewhere, but the on site shop sells towels and booze, plenty of sweets and things for the kids and the essentials of course! 

We know that the hot-tubs are serviced and also very clean - no sooner than the neighbours had left, the cleaners were in and a guy was cleaning the hot tub. 

The local area is quite small, there's a very large beach but it is one you would just walk along instead of paddling in. There isn't any sand. 

Overall, we are shocked at the reviews in comparison with our stay and would give it 6 stars if we could. It is absolutely perfect for young families - there was a big bear thing walking around earlier giving the kids high fives! The evening entertainment is varied too. I hope people don't get put off by reading the bad reviews, they just seem malicious. Our expectations from reading them, to actually having stayed and experiencing the place are poles apart!

The only kind of complaint we have really, was the buttie bar/hot dog stand outside the bar, wasn't great - the chips weren't very hot! That's the only complaint we can think of! I think that's an independent company, however. 

We will definitely be coming to stay again, the kids have loved it and if you're concerned about the accommodation - book the Premium! It's perfect!

After reading some of the reviews was a little dubious but all in all a lovely holiday. I think you pay for the standard you want and this is a great British basic holiday. If you want a five star holiday pay more and go elsewhere but your choosing a middle of the road holiday park great for a family. 

The park itself is lovely and spacious. We were lucky as we had really helpful receptionist (Rachel and Michelle) check us in. Friendly and efficient workers who did everything for us. 

The lodge was basic but clean and had everything we needed (except towels)… maybe worth putting them back in rooms to make more happy campers! But we made do with our own. 

The area itself was lovely and some lovely places to visit in the local area. 

The bar and restaurant again was basic but provided all the drinks and entertainment we needed. The swimming pool was lovely and warm which we have found to be a downfall in previous parks. 

Overall a nice experience x

Really enjoyed our stay @ Solway Village. We took our Jax (the dog) with us and it had some beautiful walks along the sea. Caravan was pet friendly and very clean. Would definitely go again but maybe in the warmer months as it did get a little brisk.Staff and everyone very welcoming.

We are just home from a weekend at Solway, the 5 of us (three kids), went for 2 nights just to go somewhere and pLay and get fresh air. I booked this place and can’t lie, I was worried about it as I didn’t want to arrive and it be horrible (bad experience before elsewhere!), but I couldn’t have been happier! We had van 18 and it was fab, exactly what we needed. Very clean, basic but very comfortable and on the doorstep of the sea. The people were friendly, in particular Vicky on the team who went out her way to put my mind at rest when I called and to check in on us during our stay. We didn’t spend time on the park itself as we wanted to be out and about (albeit there were courts and play areas being used that were lovely) but as far as the caravan goes, exceptional value for money in my opinion and did exactly what I wanted. I desperately needed it to be clean and it was. Furniture was well looked after, appliances looked new, toilet and shower room spotless. We will absolutely go back and repeat the weekend, lots of spaces to play with the children and mess about and in the evening we were very happy cooking and chilling in the lounge area (we did take a laptop and HDMI so we could watch Netflix) which worked a treat. If you’re in any doubt, just call them and ask!!

I booked pre lockdown 2.0 and was worried I couldn't complete my stay which wasn't the case. The staff were very helpful and friendly during my stay and always smiled. Great caravan at a wonderful price. Would highly recommend a stay here.

We have recently return from the October half term holiday week with 2 young children. We booked a chalet with hot tub and honestly I was dreading it after reading these reviews.

However it was a fantastic week! The chalet itself was clean, large and basic but it's a bed to sleep in. There was a slight smell of dog but we spoke with reception who got cleaners straight out to clean carpet and put in a humidifier. After that absolutely no issues at all with the chalet and reception staff went above and beyond.

The pool is great for kids. Was busy most days and it gets tested by the same lad who tests all the hot tubs. I never once seen it dirty and we went at different times.

Kids entertainment absolutely fantastic. Our little boy loved it. All free aswell and he absolutely loved the disco. 
Drinks are reasonably priced aswell.

We had food at the cafe which was great and service great. Nags head the chef forgot bits twice to meal but in fairness to the staff they were quick on it.

Hats off to the young staff there absolutely working their backsides off!!!

We will definitely be back next year!!

Stayed here for 3 nights with our 3 young grandchildren. We stayed in a three bedroom lodge which was spacious, well equipped and very clean with good safe outside area for the children to play . Staff very friendly and accommodating, very family friendly feel about the whole park, we look forward to returning, Thankyou

We were pleasantly surprised with everything at the park.  I’d booked a cheap holiday so wasn’t sure what to expect.  Chalet was clean and serviceable with everything you needed for a self catering accommodation.  

Entertainment complex was good and had a variety of things going on for all ages.  Small Arcade with a variety of games. Pub prices for drinks and the food looked good although we didn’t eat there.

Pool was warm and again perfectly serviceable! Pool is 1m depth so is a safer one especially if you’ve got little ones/non swimmers or learners.  Changing facilities need a bit of upgrading.

Every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful and all seemed to be mucking in keeping things ticking over.

The site and accommodations could do with upgrading, however given how hard the industry has been hit over the last 2 years, if people bear this in mind and keep booking and giving parks their custom, renovating can then happen!

As a lone parent to 2 children I found the park a “safe” one as I felt the children were safe there as was I and that’s a big plus for me.

Would absolutely book again!

Honest review from a single parent family!

Don’t let the reviews put you off.  Or judge on first impressions either!  Stayed for a week in a lodge.  Yes, the lodge was in need of a refurb, the furniture, mattresses, fridge all need replaced…but we have had the best time!  Although basic, lodge had everything we needed to get by.  We cooked and ate in most nights.  Good co-op and spar both in Silloth. The entertainment crew were great with the kids (10 & 12), they enjoyed the nerf battle most.  Archery, should be advertised as soft archery, as they were both a little disappointed, however, both still enjoyed taking part.  We used the swimming pool everyday, again some areas need updating but didn’t affect the enjoyment.  Pool was lovely and warm and the poolside staff were friendly. We ate in the bar once, this area is modernised, very clean and staff were good.  Service was quick, prices reasonable and most importantly the food was a hit.  Totally recommend the lasagne! We visited the kids time entertainment twice - no complaints! Didn’t visit entertainment out-with this so can’t comment.  The site feels very safe and the kids were out and about playing football on the grass pitches/ all weather area or playing hide and seek with kids they met. There is also tennis courts that we didn’t use.  

We needed to use the maintenance services for a blocked sink.  They were quick to respond and fix the issue. 

Silloth itself, had plenty to do.  We walked in several times. There is bmx track which was a huge bonus.  There is also a very good adventure play-park and splash park.   We spent one of the days on the west beach.  It was so quiet and clean. 

We took a drive to Carlisle one day and spent the day in Bitts Park.  Great play park, splash zone, a skate park and nice walks.  There is also a food hub which had live music on. 

We’ve had a really enjoyable week with lots of lasting memories.

A holiday is what you make it to be!

After reading some of the other reviews, a bit of me was dreading my break here! I booked without researching first!  However, needn't have worried - it's absolutely fine. Lodge with a hot tub which was lovely, warm and clean. Swimming pool and soft play again is clean. There are areas that need modernising but the last few years have impacted heavily I guess. 
A lot of people mentioned the seagulls - all I can say is, imagine going to the coast and complaining about seagulls 😂 this place is about a two minute walk from the water, so what do they expect? We didn't have any issues with them - yes they're loud but do you go to the countryside and complain about the cows mooing? We had a picnic on the green at the sea front and they didn't even come over, we actually joked that they were better mannered than our seagulls at home 😂.
