I was attending  Christian gathering at Charlton Park and needed 3 nights while my daughter camped. Chris and the team really looked after me and at £70 including a lovely breakfast I got a quiet clean room with  a very comfy single bed and a super breakfast every day. I booked direct. 
It is literally a place to sleep and eat breakfast as it chooses to  offer nothing more. 
Lots of parking and a lovely village drivable to lots of places. 
My room  was cleaned, tidied and replenished every day,
Not it’s not in perfect repair as it’s a very old building but it gave me a lovely nights sleep and I would stay again.

We enjoyed a really nice stay last weekend. The room was very clean, comfortable and quiet with ample room for us and our two children. We highly recommend the delicious breakfast. We were made to feel really welcome by the staff, particularly Chris (who spoilt the kids with chocolates and other treat) and Hollie the waitress. Its a shame the visit was so brief but we look forward to returning next time we visit the UK.

Charming hotel.. The hotel owner made myself, my brother, my mother and niece very welcome. Lovely clean bedrooms and probably the best burger I have ever eaten! Owner Chris was running the hotel singlehandedly including all the cooking. He joined us at the bar in the evening and I loved the banter and good conversation. Thankyou from Jason and family 

The bell house is a fabulous old hotel in a stunning village… Chris the owner is a one off and lovey chap… the hotel is old so if you like the modern style it’s probably not for you…. The rooms are huge and very clean… the bed are comfortable and the bedding immaculate
Breakfast is fantastic, I didn’t get the opportunity to eat there of an evening but if the breakfast was anything to go by I should imagine the restaurant meals are fabulous too.

Lovely dog friendly pub, my lab loves coming into the Bell, the staff are lovely with her, she gets lots of love and attention, dog biscuits which they keep behind the bar. They have a dog bowl for water too. The steaks are amazing! The gardens look beautiful. Highly recommend.

I used The Bell House for a business trip stop over, and would stay again for leisure. 

Chris is a really nice guy, takes (well earned) pride in his place and has very high standards. 

I honestly can’t understand some of the nasty comments on here!

Food was great and had a fabulous nights sleep

Such a lovely restaurant and pub with a Great food highly recommend the calamari and steaks drinks service is of top standard and welcoming and even treats and a nice warm fire for the dog! Brilliant place to stop if passing or just book a table and have a nice evening out.

Stayed recently for work for a few days,very welcoming,nice and comfy and clean which is all you can ask for ,only ate once in the bar but the food was very good

What a nice surprise, as an overnight stay on my way back to Kent.
Rooms are clean, quiet and cosy.
Chris the manager/owner is obviously a man of the world and adds his unique character.
We enjoyed a nice dinner, large selection of wines and whiskies as well as a good night opposite the church.
This was a perfect stop over.

Lovely early 1600's building with some architectural gems and a must visit.  Very friendly and accommodating staff, and the owner Chris goes out of his way to make you feel very welcome as well as delivering great quality food cooked to perfection all at a very affordable price.  Full English breakfast included in the price was very adequate.  Everyone must do the Friday steak night!  At £40 for two to include a bottle of decent and very drinkable (for a change) "house wine" you simply can't go wrong; steak cooked perfectly to request (rare to medium which most always mess up!) served with chips that were the best we have probably ever had after dining at many hundreds of different restuarants throughout the UK and Europe over the past 30+ years!  The rack of baby ribs were also everything other than baby, being a very generous large portion of perfectly cooked ribs that absolutely filled the serving board.  We stayed bed & breakfast for two nights over a weekend whilst visiting nearby relatives and would loved to have stayed longer.  We will be back as soon as possible, and especially for steak night!  Thank you.

Clean, comfy and kind

Spent a night at the Bell when I was attending a prog rock gig (Franck Carducci) at Rods place in the old rectory. Simple, straight forward accommodation, no bells and whistles (excuse the pun) but clean and comfortable room and facilities. Breakfast was outstanding (and free if you book directly with the hotel).
Looking forward to my next visit. 

Convenient location

Stayed a night on business, Chris the owner was very friendly and we had a good chat about the old building and works planned. Yes it’s a old hotel but has character unlike so many modern box hotels. He was very welcoming and also provide a excellent take away lunch the next day as I had to leave before breakfast. I would recommend and stay again. I wish him all the best for the future and his plans and hope planning gets granted. So nice he doesn’t just want to pull it down!

An architectural gem with quality affordable restaurant food to match

Have visited the Bell house on 2 occasions in the last month. From the second you walk through the door your made very welcome and the room was large, very clean and plenty of storage for a traveller visiting for quite a few days 
The breakfast is unbelievable the quality of the ingredients excellent and cooked to perfection. Chris went above and beyond and made me a lunch daily with excellent sandwiches and amazing fruit loaf which I’ve never liked before but I ate the lot 
Plenty of safe practices put in place for the life we are now living in with hand sanitizers on every table and social distancing practices in place.
To top it off, Chris was an excellent host, with a great sense of humour and by staying open for key workers has contributed to help keep the country moving 

Home for a few weeks

Well done Chris for making the little slice of normality in the crazy world we find ourselves in! Whilst observing all the rules on Day 1 of pubs opening, you have made the pub feel just like it used to be. We had a great time. If you want a drink in a country pub, just like you used to, we can recommend The Bell House, Sutton Benger!
