Plumber Manor

What an excellent stay we had in Plumber Manor again. The room assigned to us was beautiful, spacious and comfortable. Richard and Alison Prideaux-Brune are excellent hosts and the staff went out of their way to please us. The lounge at the bar is cozy with a roaring fire. We also enjoyed the variety of well prepared dishes in de restaurant. The gardens surrounding the Manor are superbly maintained and inviting for a walk. We had a wonderful relaxed stay and hope to visit the Manor again in due course.

A beautiful Manor House Hotel set in stunning grounds .
The Hotel has a professional, but non sophisticated feel about it .  A truly Family run property, with Owner Richard P-B very much in evidence .

Our Mews room was large , warm,  with a great bed.  Bathroom a little small perhaps , with bath and shower over - not ideal for shower lovers .  

Food varied and good .  Thought Breakfast especially and quality of the bacon was outstanding.

Wine prices reasonable and good List . Great canopies

A great stay. Very comfortable room, great service with friendly staff. We had lamb for dinner and it was cooked to perfection, best I have had in a long time. The grounds are immaculate and we enjoyed our walk in them on a beautiful sunny morning. Thank you.

Every thing was perfect food Accomodation service & Ambience cannot find one bad thing to say The 3 day break price was good and the price of wine very reasonable No pre booking costs no bills to sign just pay when you leave nont forget to leave a tip for the wonderful staff because it’s not included in the bill

The thing with this place is, you can’t help but feel relaxed ! The staff are like your family, they’re all so kind and helpful and welcome you into their fold. The decor is wood panel walls and giant portraits, very old country Manor House, stream, gardens, just so quaint and picturesque, all in the peaceful countryside. Did I mention the food is amazing too ? Little piece of Heaven.

Lovely one- night stay: charming old property full of history, pretty gardens, impeccable personalised service and excellent food - highly recommended for a taste of "old England".

Another fabulous stay at the Manor, superb food and wine and we were so well looked after by the delightful staff.  The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed and we were very well looked after.  A relaxing and enjoyable weekend we are already looking forward to a return visit.

Amazing stay at Plumber Manor.  Has my husband’s 60th dinner.  The food was absolutely amazing.  All the guests said it was the best they had had for a long time.  The service is amazing from arrival to departure.  Would definitely recommend a meal and stay.

From the moment we arrived it felt like a home. Everyone seemed happy to be there. From the friendly personal welcome, the beautiful flowers, the open fire, the ambiance, delicious dinner, beautifully appointed rooms with very comfy beds and then topped off with a first rate breakfast. All in all, Plumber Manor is an absolute gem.

From the moment we arrived it felt like a home.

We return here over and over, never had anything but the most wonderful welcome, followed usually by Richard PB in the evening. The food is always excellent. Menus have a great choice to suit all. A great choice of wines. We also stayed in the main house. Beautiful accommodation, understated and most comfortable. As ever, a superb breakfast. What a wonderful place

We would like to thank the entire Team at Plumber Manor for all their hard work to make our Ruby Wedding celebration dinner such a wonderful and memorable occasion.  Our very special thanks go to Wendy in the office for her assistance with the planning and the set up - the table looked beautiful! - and to MJ and Jane for all their hard work on the night.  The service given was absolutely impeccable!  Living locally and being regular visitors to Plumber Manor over the years we have always enjoyed consistently great food there and the catering for a large group of sixteen was no exception.  The chef is outstanding and all our guests remarked on the exceptionally high quality of the meal.

Several of our guests took advantage of the hotel’s accommodation and were full of praise for the standard of the rooms and for the warmth and helpfulness of the staff.

Our entire evening was a tremendous success - it could not have gone better - and we very much felt that we and all of our guests were being looked after more as a family friend than a client.

Ruby Wedding Anniversary Dinner in the Private Dining Room

Throughout our four day stay we and our three (!) quite large dogs always felt welcome.  Well appointed large room, friendly and efficient staff and excellent restaurant.  The food was tasty, plentiful, and interesting without being pretentious. Amazing wine list but we stuck to the house wine which was fine.  Excellent opportunities for dog walking from the hotel and in the wider area.  This was our first visit but before leaving we booked our next one - says it all!

Very welcoming

The room was in the outside block as we had 2 dogs with us.  It was very comfortable - the bed was large as it was 2 singles together - and the chairs were relaxing.  Everything was very clean in the room and the shower had plenty of power.
We had breakfast and dinner twice and on both occasions the food was delicious and well-presented.  The menu was full of high quality local produce, which was much appreciated.  We both tried dishes we had not tried before - Hartgrove Coppa and Partridge - and the trio of desserts meant we were able to try a large portion of the pudding menu.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the local walks for dogs were extensive.  The hotel is close enough for day trips to the Jurassic coast (Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door) and Shaftesbury (Gold Hill), so there is plenty to do.
We would highly recommend this hotel, certainly for a short break in the quiet countryside.

Celebrated a significant wedding anniversary here with dinner and an overnight stay.
The location and ambience is very pleasant which is enhanced, throughout,  by a very friendly and efficient staff.
Our double room was comfortable, with nice furnishings, and a large ensuite. The room had all the basic amenities you would expect from a quality hotel.
Before dinner we were welcomed into a large relaxing bar with comfortable seating and a roaring log fire which we returned to for a nightcap after an excellent dinner.
Breakfast, the following morning was tasty and plentiful.
We will definitely be staying again.
