Prestonfield House

What an incredible experience! From the moment we entered the building, we were treated like royalty. Sitting in the yellow room until our rooms were ready (we were quite early) was a dream. The staff person told us that this room was the Queen Mother's favorite room at Prestonfield. Once led to our rooms, we discovered that each room was a decorated with period antiques and each was a little different. I loved my room- sumptuous bedding, thoughtful touches like glass bottled water, freshly baked cookies, homemade chocolates and a stack of apples. My only issue was with the shower. Located in a very high sided tub, it was difficult to get in and the bath screen got in the way while showering. My understanding is that they are renovating the showers . Now, for food...we had 2 high tea services, sunday roast dinner, 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts. Service was consistently the best I've ever had- person and professional and attentive. The food was sublime. We especially enjoyed the blueberry pancakes, cream cheese & chive omelet, sunday roast, the cheeseburger and the chips. Oh, the chips! The grounds are beautiful. We met the Highland Coos- Ela, Braken and Helga and fed them apples. We also met Colin, the peacock, who was happy to spread his feathers and give us a grand display. I can't wait to return to Edinburgh and I also am looking forward to my next visit to Prestonfield.
