Great service from all the staff. Breakfast is fresh and cooked to order plenty of options The restaurant and bar although as little quiet during my stay seemed to have a good atmosphere, open fifes and cosy seating.

Helpful staff, great value and breakfast, nice bar.

My only complaint is that breakfast did not start until 07:30, half an hour too late

This is an absolute gem of a place - because I was there for work I didn’t get to spend as much time there as I would have liked but I’d definitely go back. Lovely little touches like chocolates to match the coffee selection and great bathroom amenities. Super comfortable bed. I also ate in the restaurant - food was excellent.

Our stay included a delicious breakfast. There was a restaurant and pub attached. It was in the heart of the sightseeing area. Just steps from the cathedral.

Nice rooms over a bar, a bit noisy from the bar and the pipes at night. Breakfast was superb. Friendly staff.

Great room, massive bed. Top food in pub, breakfast was spot on.

Had a lovely one night stay. We were allocated the Damson suite and it was extremely spacious and comfortable. The staff are a credit to the hotel and went above and beyond.
Good choice of breakfast and local produce, which is always my preference.
Would definitely recommend and use again 

We had actually booked the Bel and Dragon in Churt as we had visited it a few times on recent business trips. We received a message en route to Churt that there was a gas leak and they asked us if it was ok to book us in at Odiham instead.  The hotel was great, 16th century, oldy-worldy, excellent kitchen and attentive staff.  The bar has a great atmosphere and I loved the books spread out through the communal areas.

Second stay and all in all it’s a good overnight option. Stayed in Hellis annex. They really need to sort out lights on approach to rooms as it’s pitch black and none were working and you risk tripping on the high steps. Room was warm and comfortable bed. Bathroom is in need of re furb as some shower floor tiles missing and black spot mould in room. Great veggie option breakfast. It’s fine but not great. I will use again at the right room rate. Parking is a bonus and Odiham is a quaint village.

This place is excellent value with comfortable and classy rooms. A solid 8/10. It could so easily have been a 10! Simple things, could have really benefited from 2 comfortable chairs in the spacious bedroom, so as to enjoy the lovely gin provided. Food sounded and looked first class but nearly all the dishes we had were over salted. I’d stay again and try dinner next door as the place was very comfortable and set in a lovely village.

We stayed in the Gainsborough room which is located by the stairs. You do hear other guests, coming and going. 1 set of ear plugs are provided. The room was spacious, clean and had lovely added touches. A complimentary sloe gin, chocolates, pillow spray and speciality tea and coffee bags. The bathroom was a shower only. The toiletries were nice. A shower cap would have been useful as it was a large overhead shower.The onsite restaurant is worth a visit. We had dinner and breakfast.

Brilliant

Odiham is a lovely little place to stay.  The Bel and Dragon is a very old and attractive building.  This means that in the hotel rooms the floors are uneven and the doors might be lower than in somewhere modern.  The character of the building is beautiful if you have any kind of interest and fondness for old English buildings.

Rooms are very comfortable.  And the bathrooms are large and very good.  In the last room I stayed in the shower was one of the best I have encountered in a hotel.

There is daily housekeeping.  I have a couple of minor niggles.  The bottled water and complmentary chocolates were not alwasy replenished on a daily basis.  

In the past there was complimentary sloe gin in the room.  There was none this time.  I guess it saves mone but I missed it.

The restaurant is in a modern extension.  The dining room is large and airy and comfortable.  The restaurant food is very good if, perhaps, a little bit expensive.  

Breakfast is excellent.   I did not eat anything cooked every day.  I suspect there might be a bit of a wait if there were lots of guests who wanted feeding.

The bar is a nice place to sit and unwind after a day at work.  And there is a separate sitting room which I think is there for the use of hotel guests.  

Odiham is a nice old village.  It is a pleasant place to walk around to look at the church and buildings and the commonwealth war graves cemerty is just a short walk from the village centre.

There is another pub next door where the food is also very good and a bit cheaper.  The Italian restaurant opposite (El Castello - should be Il Castello!) is very good as is the little Indian which is nearby.

I enjoyed my stay and I will return. 

Check out is not alwasy great.  As there is not always someone available to deal with any payment due.  But that is a minor niggle.

Wonderful village and hotel

Beautiful building with many original features. 
Lovely bedroom (we stayed in Albert) situated over the bar so we thought it would be noisy at night - not at all. Quaint and characterful. 
Breakfast was ok - nice fresh coffee, but husband declared his full English was poor - overcooked sausage and undercooked bacon. My smashed avocado on sourdough was excellent. Service was very slow, which was a shame. 
We would return if we were in the area.

Lovely bedroom.

Bel & The Dragon in Odiham has lovely characterful rooms, some with original features still preserved (e.g. wall decorations) and which are fascinating. Everything works well and the staff are friendly, welcoming and professional.

The restaurant offers very high end cuisine which very few poeple seem to want as it is almost always empty. When staying here, for the evening meal I would invariably pop next door to the Red Lion or across the road to a very nice Italian, or even a little way down the road to a wonderful Indian restaurant.

Characterful historic experience

Good service until they called last orders at 10:30pm even though venue opening times state 11pm. When challenged the 19yo stated they wanted to “go to bed”.
When I ran a bar, licensing laws was call last orders up to 11pm with 10-20 min drinking grace. I went up at 10 to 11pm and was refused service. Fair enough, but we were not told it was last orders by our waiters. We were in a side room and it left us disappointed after a lovely time there… 
The food was good. Soup and dessert excellent, turkey dinner average.

Surprise trip to Odiham's Bel and Dragon

I rarely give 5-star reviews but this is an easy 5-star. It wasn't absolutely perfect but not enough to drop a star.

My wife and I booked one night's dinner, B&B en route to see relations. We booked a 'premier' room and ended up in Damson which is a lovely large room including two arm chairs. It's on the front of the hotel but the noise and traffic soon dies down (until the dustmen arrive early the following morning!). There are aspects of the room's decor which could do with refurbishing but its comfort and the fact that part of the decoration is an historic 16th century wall painting makes up for this.

But what sets the hotel apart are the little complimentary extras (yes, plural) which are offered to guests - and I'm not talking about the up-market tea and coffee sachets in the room. Book a room and see for yourself!

We had dinner outside (weather great). The food was good but the service was excellent. Breakfast was painfully slow but this seemed to be due to the chef making everything to order. We had fruit salad to start and had to wait whilst it was prepared.  The quality of the breakfast food was very good, however. Luckily we were not on a tight timescale but I guess the slow service must drive business customers mad.

We were sufficiently impressed that we'll almost certainly try some of their other hotels when we're next in the area.
