The Old Farmhouse

This is a delightful house to stay in. Very comfortable. The thatched house is ancient and full of character. The garden is wonderful too. Ann Mary made us very welcome and cooked us a lovely breakfast, with home made bread! We will definitely return.

Stay here if you want character, comfortable accommodation and be made to feel welcome.
Ann is a great host and catered for our rather demanding needs (who provides breakfast at 6.30 on a Sunday for 3 horsey women, stressed and about to compete at Newmarket????? - perfectly judged)
Lovely rooms and comfy welcoming sitting room - if you have well behaved dogs bring them to.
Great value for money, clean, well situated in Cheveley for the excellent eateries.

We only stayed here one night, a shame we weren't staying longer as we would have liked to look at the gorunds and visit the local pub. Our room was lovely and clean and bed was very comfy, which madea nice change. The shower worked well and had enough power to get the shampoo out of my hair. Breakfast was included, we only expected a continental but we had cereal, fruit juice and a full English, followed by toast and conserves. Our host was lovely, suggested places to eat which next time we will take her up on but as we had already eaten when we got there we just had a sandwich in our room, as was tired after walking around Newmarket. We were amazed when she went off to open the church and we were told to leave the key on the side and shut the door as we left. Would like to stay again but next time will be for a couple of nights

Felt I had found myself in a chocolate box setting. Stayed with my wife. Garden was awsome. The building has been there since 1580. Be aware given its age floors are a bit of an angle. But that only adds to it. Wonderful host and a terrific breakfast. Would definatley stay there again.

Lovely Old Building

Just lovely!

Delightful 

Disappointing especially from a cleanliness point of view. Thick dust behind headboards in twin room. Room smelt musty.Some sort of mouse bait contraption in the room. Bathroom with old carpet separate from bedroom out on landing.
Horrified to have breakfast in a tip of a room with dirty carpet,crumbs all over table and place settings, stale cereal in bottom of box and worst of all two heavily moulting labradors all around and under the table begging. Completely put us off and struggled to eat and feel comfortable. So much so that we couldn't face or stomach going down for breakfast the following day and declined. To rub salt in the wound we were telephoned once home and accused of not paying.Insulted and offended.We had paid in full (including for a breakfast we couldn't face) before departure as requested. Not an experience we would repeat or recommend.

Disappointing

Was going to book 2 rooms,but after doing an Internet check and watching the behavior of the wife a retired teacher on 4 in a bed I was shocked at how she treated Samantha a fellow contestant because she couldn't handle criticism. Frankly I would hate to think that was a reflection of her teaching years as I can personally attest to how being wrongly punished or chastised by a teacher can cause one's confidence to dwindle!
Sadly after reading reviews from those who just like contestants on the show commented on a lack of cleanliness we are unable to make said booking.
