We called in with friends for an afternoon tea. Staff were friendly and courteous, Prices reasonable and a nice range on the menu. The Tearoom was busy and lively when we went. Booking was essential. The teashop is in a lovely location close to a river walk.

Booked for Sunday Lunch today and was not disappointed,  roast beef and all the trimmings, piping hot and delicious, Mary and Vic the landlady and landlord are extremely friendly and welcoming, excellent pint of bitter to go with my lunch, already booked a table for next Sunday.

We heard the place had recently reopened so called in . Very welcoming landlady and landlord . Food was great . We will definitely return at our next opportunity. We'll done Mary and Victor. See you again soon

Our group of 4 stayed 2 nights at this hotel over a weekend. Everything was perfect. Although our room wasn't huge, it was beautifully decorated, good bedding and very comfortable. The whole hotel was very clean and the service was excellent. Would highly recommend if you're in the area.

My sister and her now husband booked out the whole hotel for our family and friends for their wedding from 15th -17th Aug. We were immediately very comfortable and it felt very much like a home from home. We had a twin room (13 I believe) as it had room for our travel cots (one was provided by the hotel). Lovely room, very cosy, calm decor and a great bathroom. The shower was incredible! Nice comfy bed too. We only ate here the first night and this was perfectly nice pub food served promptly. Alcohol is also a good price here. Great beer garden out the back where we all gathered. There are lots of interesting quirky rooms downstairs aswell to sit in. The staff couldn’t be more accommodating but it’s very informal but professional and friendly service which I really liked. The bar staff were lovely to chat to. The owner was very kind to me when I left my room key in a friends car and very quickly got us a new one sorted out. A special mention to Andy behind the bar too. He very kindly offered to collect us from the wedding two miles away when he’d finished his shift as we didn’t want to stay til the end and taxis seem sparse in the area. He came and got us as promised and returned us safely to the hotel! Amazingly kind! Lastly, the breakfast was lovely. It’s hard to find places that poach your eggs properly! We booked 3 rooms here for a family wedding nearby, with young and older members of the family staying.  Booking was easy as were adjustments nearer the date. The hotel is really interesting and quirky architecturally, with lots of different areas inside and out.  It has successfully blended many original features and older furniture with new and comfortable chairs and fabrics.  Staff were pleasant and helpful and very accommodating to the older members of our party. In addition to cereals, toast and juice, an English breakfast was freshly cooked in the morning, customised to suit.  Plenty of parking at the front, back and opposite.  We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to use this hotel again.

Enjoyed a very Sociable drink with work colleagues for a Leaving Function. The place was Immaculate and welcoming with various rooms to sit in. The buffet laid on was delicious and the drinks were very affordable. 

Today was Remembrance Sunday and despite the sun it was cold and still a huge turn out..so i would like to thank the Hop Pole for providing free tea, coffee, and pop for the kids after the service..it was very welcome and very kind

Overnight stay for a wedding. Overall for the money everything excellent for a 3star property. Staff welcoming quick and efficient. Room although small had everything you needed and was very clea. Basic breakfast of various cereals  and cooked breakfast cooked to order which was all that was needed. Tea and coffee made to order would be good though. Prepaid in flasks is not that good if its been standing a while that was our only true gripe . If you have restricted movement this isn't the place for you as the stairs are quite narrow and steep to the rooms. If you want to stay in a quaint English pub this has bags of character

I visited this with a group of friends for a meal. The menu is fairly decent with a choice of various fare at a reasonable price. The food was really good with large portions all freshly prepared and well presented. The drinks were also reasonably priced and the service was excellent.
