It was a very nice place to go and visit in the North Coast of Somerset. Nice room and breakfast. Mattress was hard,

Nice family operated Inn with friendly staff.Good food and nice freshly made breakfast.We spent two nights and for us it was a perfect stop on our way to Cornwall. Nearby there are very nice places to visit like Dunster, Valley of Rocks, Lynton-Lynmouth, ...

Such friendly people. We stayed in an annexe to the rear of The Castle which had been recently done or refurbished. A good size room with an excellent on suite complete with a power shower. Breakfast was good and we were well looked after by Patsy each morning who was great.We also ate there a couple of evenings, food was well priced, quality produce and tasty but its not fine dining, its hearty pub grub.The location in Porlock is central, parking is not at the hotel but a couple of minutes walk away, however, there are some 20 min spaces opposite which are great for dropping off lugage etc.All in all, a very comfortable stay and great value for money.

Cleaning need more details: cobwebs outside of windows, lots of dust on the lamps.Overall is ok.Nice size of room, quite and in excellent location. Definitely recommend place.

Our third time at the Castle and loved it just as much. Lovely hosts, fabulous breakfast and a big spacious room. Only wished we could have stayed longer than the 3 nights booked!

Staff were friendly and helpful, the inn had a nice atmosphere.  Breakfast was lovely and beautifully cooked :)

Nice hotel with very reasonable food and drink prices. Staff are really great and I would certainly use this hotel again. Room was nice with good facilities.Improvements..  Better guest information would be good, such as detaills in the room about breakfast times, wifi etc.But overall highly recommended.

The Castle is a friendly pub with rooms in the heart of Porlock.  

My room was in an annex behind the pub - very convenient, though with quite a number of steps.  The room was very spacious and looked very fresh.  In principle, it was very quiet (no road noise), but on occasion there was rumbling mechanical noise from the (chiller?) Unit downstairs, as well as the bathroom fan and voices in an adjoining room.

WiFi was fine and capable, once I'd asked at the bar for the code.

Breakfast was a bit brief - a choice of full English OR cereal etc.  The food was fine, but having the full English I missed my fibre :). Other meals were pub staples at a good price.  It's a lively pub, popular with locals and tourists by the looks of things.  

I would have rated 4.5* : losing half a star for the noise in the room and the basic breakfast.  But I rounded up.  I'd happily stay again.

Friendly, straightforward, central 

Room was spotless on arrival, large and very comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful and personable, with nothing being too much trouble. We stayed 3 nights and room wasn’t serviced daily so extra toilet rolls, tea & coffee would have been good, but that would probably have been provided if we had asked.



 The Castle  has a roaring hearth  fire,  small simple menu with good home made food, books and friendly informative staff , perfect for relaxation.  If you feeling sporty, pool, darts, skittles are available and tv to watch on. 

Booking in was simple at the bar. There are stairs to rooms but if you wait a couple of mins an appropriate member will give yo a hand.  

We had a  compact twin room, nice and warm, clean, tea / coffee makings with comfy beds. An open rail for easy acess to hanging clothes. The on suite had a big shower and gel. Both rooms had huge useful window cills. This room has some street and pub noise which is no problem for us, just bear in mind when booking.   Mmm the full English breakfast and staff are fab, one came up to us specially to let us know of road accident which may have hindered our departure. What more could we ask 



A lovely find.

We have been visiting as many local eateries as possible this summer and must compliment The Castle at Porlock on the homely comfort menu offered.  The service was excellent.  We were very well looked after and how nice not to have to pay before we ate.  The main course we chose was liver, bacon, mash and peas.  Couldn't fault it.  No room for dessert.  We will return again.

Excellent mid week lunch at the Castle, Hotel, Porlock  Recommended.

Staying in a nearby B&B we went searching for food. Not very much open in Porlock for an evening meal and other places saying no space.
Lovely welcome from the barman at the Castle. Lots of traditional pub grub on the menu. Food was hot and tasty and the atmosphere friendly and relaxed. Really enjoyed our evening.

We visited  this evening  and although  it's not appealing  to  the  eye once you step through the  front  door  its oozed charm and had a ambiance  of  welcome.the staff were extremely  attentive  professional and proud to be there and showed that customer's  were well and truly   valued.the menu had a good variety of choices and  arrived in timely  manner it was well presented  and average  portions  a check to see if everything was ok  was extremely welcome. A little  gem on the inside

What a fantastic friendly place to stay this about our 7th time of staying the staff are fantastic friendly and helpful the rooms are lovely very clean and comfortable it’s very central for exploring exmoor the breakfast was lovely even with my strange request nothing is to much trouble for the happy smiling Patsy we will be back next year if not before thank you again for a lovely couple of days stay safe

Fantastic place

Lovely Pub / B&B. Perfect for a short stay.  The staff were really helpful and friendly and the full English breakfast was fabulous.  The pub was full and lively both nights but with a room a few floors up it didn't bother us and was actually nice to see a pub busy with drinkers and guests .  Room was clean and comfy.  Would definitely stay again when in the area.
