The Haven at Avebury B & B and Retreat

The location is great.  You overlook a field of barley with standing stones.  It is a pleasant walk into central Avebury.  Sara the host couldn't be nicer.  She settled us into the accommodation and left us to it.  The accommodation is fabulous.  Self contained space with a large bedroom, a bathroom and a small kitchenette by the back door.  The next morning we were treated to an amazing vegan breakfast.  Sara is a very generous host.  There was a feast of choices for us.  The cooked breakfast was perfect.  I felt so amazingly relaxed there.  I cant wait to return.

I was given a warm welcome from the host, Sara. The hospitality she showed me was genuine and she went out of her way to make me feel comfortable in her tranquil home with magical views of the Long Stones of Avebury and Windmill Hill.

It's perfectly situated in the Avebury Trusloe area with a short 10 minute walk along a country lane with pretty cottages and views of Silbury Hill leading to the village and the Henge stones and a direct 25 minute invigorating walk to Windmill Hill. 

I really relaxed and enjoyed my stay in the Suite: I had privacy, comfort, cleanliness, a small kitchenette with mini fridge and microwave and tea/coffee and fresh milk as well as a few chocolates on arrival, a typical thoughtful touch of Sara's!

I was overjoyed that there was no TV in my room - I had time to read, walk, practice yoga, watch DVDs from Sara's collection on a portable DVD player and, most importantly, rest thoroughly. 

Breakfast was spectacular - I've never had such an array of fresh fruit, cereals, spreads, g/f bread and the vegetarian cooked breakfast was really fresh and beautifully cooked. 

If you're looking to have a real break and take time out from the 24/7 hustle and bustle of life and constant demands of social media and TV turning you into a zombie, then the Haven may be the place for you. 

It was perfect for me and my short stay was enough for me to leave feeling rejuventated. I'm really look forward to returning.

My partner and I just returned from a 2 night stay and had a wonderful time.
This is the most peaceful of places to stay at Avebury as there is no traffic noise.
       The garden looks out across fields to some of the long stones and the Havens garden is beautifully manicured and inviting. We had our own private entrance to our room. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the little utility room with own fridge was handy.  It was lovely not having a television clogging up the room, however there is a Portable DVD player with a few DVDs should you wish to watch something.

The vegetarian breakfast was absolutely amazing. Each day we had a different cooked  breakfast, along with an array of fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt and pastries. This was very  filling and sets you up for a day of walking and exploring this beautiful area. 

Sara, our hostess was so warm and welcoming and went out of her way to make us feel at home.  We had some lovely conversations over breakfast and her knowledge of the local area is very helpful. 

We look forward to returning for a longer stay for what we would describe as 'a home from home'.

I just returned from The Haven and absolutely loved my stay. The Suite was impeccably clean and comfortable. The little kitchen was perfect for making coffee and storing snacks, as my friend and I had brought salads for lunch when we were out walking and needed to have them refrigerated in the mini fridge. 

The Haven is easy to find with the post code and host Sara's instructions. Parking on the street is very easy to find, and there is also parking in a small bay just outside The Haven. Sara has a wealth of information on the area, and we really enjoyed chatting with her at breakfast. She gave us excellent tips on places to visit in the area. 

Perhaps most importantly, The Haven is just a mile away from Avebury village and stone circle, making it very easy to get back and forth from the B&B to the circle and the Red Lion pub, where we had dinners. It's also within walking distance from Windmill Hill, West Kennet Long Barrow, and Silbury Hill. We did a lot of walking while we were there, and it was all easily accessible from The Haven. We didn't use our cars once. 

The room is very comfortable, with two double beds and a small bathroom with a shower. Everything was perfectly clean. 

A vegetarian breakfast was served with a huge array of cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit, and cooked breakfast with eggs on toast, vegetarian sausage, and the best mushrooms I've ever had. 

Arrival was easy; we checked in at the suggested time and Sara got us acquainted with our room and the garden, which guests have access to. The garden is a haven of peace and tranquillity, with a gorgeous view of fields with two standing stones just beyond. It had an apple tree full of apples, tomato plants laden with fruit, and strawberries that guests are allowed to pick and eat. 

This was a deeply relaxing stay. The Haven was just as advertised, and Sara is an excellent host. Communication was easy before and after arrival, and we really enjoyed our stay. If you're looking to stay overnight in Avebury (we stayed for two nights), I highly recommend The Haven.

This BnB is located in the hostess' house about a mile from Avebury. Her home is immaculate and calm, and she has a lovely garden that overlooks fields. Sara is a warm and attentive, but not intrusive, hostess.  You can walk back to Avebury along footpaths in about 20 mins. The double room is small, but clean and comfortable.
