TLH Victoria Feb 2018 Review. Summary. A good value for money hotel with leisure activities and entertainment second to none. Bar Service. Although the bar service was very good in all the bars and priced reasonably for a hotel, all bars with the exception of Albert's (Albert's had Doom Bar) had a poor range of beers. They did not stock “real” or “Craft” beer on pump at all. There was only one bitter on, which has a relatively low alcohol content and not a popular beer. The Aztec bar didn’t even have Guinness unless you had it in a can. Restaurant. Breakfast was good, with a reasonable selection. Dinner selection and quality was good as well, but some of the food came out a bit on the cool side. Service by our waitress Maria was excellent and she should get a special mention. Specialist Diets. If you are concerned about the ability of the hotel to cope with specialist diets you have no need to worry. My partner had to keep to a special diet for medical reasons. She advised the hotel before she arrived, and the chef came out to discuss the details on our arrival. Then every day the Restaurant Manager came to the table at breakfast time with the dinner menu, went through the options, and if any additions were needed, he made suggestions, passed the details onto the chef and a suitable option was cooked and delivered at dinner. The service was so good that on one occasion the chef came out asking the Restaurant Manager why the pre-arranged dish had not been ordered. Again, special mention must be made for Maria, our waitress who was also aware of the dietary needs and ensured everything went smoothly, as did the Restaurant Manager, whose name I cannot remember, but it was the tall one with a beard. Reception. All reception staff were very helpful, and in particular Pam Cole, the head receptionist. If you want to know anything ask reception who will tell you, or get someone who can! Entertainment. Although very good so no complaints about that, the evening entertainment was not as advertised. I agree there is a caveat saying that this is a guide ……….and reserves the right to change………..at short notice but I think the website needs checking and updating regularly. For example even after the event the midweek break entertainment was still being shown as originally advertised and not as what was actually on. Leisure Activities. The Leisure Activities were excellent and so extensive they are too numerous to mention. Rooms. We had a Rivera room which was very clean, biscuits toiletries etc. topped up daily as required, with plenty of room and a good sea view. Well worth the slight increase in tariff. Wi Fi. Good Wi Fi coverage throughout the hotel complex.
