Judd Hotel

We decided to move from the outskirts of London and the luxury of large motel rooms to the inner city London accommodation nearing the end of our vacation. The advantages included short walks to the museums, galleries and monuments. There were a selection of pubs, Cafes and restaurants within a 5 minute walk from the Judd as opposed to one restaurant near a motel with the alternative in another district. However, with inner city accommodation came the much smaller rooms. We chose a double bed and, while it was larger than one at the California, it was still a tight fit for two of us and baggage. It was small enough that I could adjust the angle of the TV while still lying on the bed. The bathroom was also small with a toilet that it was impossible to sit straight on. The shower was a perspex cylinder which did not allow the occupant to bend in. Our room did get a full height window with a view to the park. The walls and floors offered little sound insulation from door slammers, heavy feet and the outside traffic. There were larger rooms available, and for our 5 night stay in London, this would have been a pertinent choice if we were to do more than sleep. Breakfast was provided with a basic eggs, bacon and cereal. We were used to a wider choice while in France and at Best Western Fleet (Monkey Puzzle Restaurant) so the limited breakfast while paying more for the room was discouraging an extension to our 5 nights. Overall, the rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. We found a laundromat down the road to wash our clothes and we experienced pub grub, London restaurants and theatres within a 3km walk.
