Visiting the Yorkshire Dales for a week and went for lunch midweek. The fish and chips followed by bread and butter pudding for lunch was excellent! Really fresh and delicious.
We wanted to sample the Sunday lunch but they were full so a takeaway was booked.  The trio of meats was incredible. A huge portion and served with gravy and condiments all packaged separately.
The reviews are right! The food is fabulous and the service excellent

We had an excellent meal here. Food was lovely, staff were great and the pub has a nice ambience. Would definitely recommend

Amazing Sunday lunch pretty restaurant welcoming and friendly - the roast potatoes are epic ! Could not find a single fault with this lunch - brilliant

This was up there for me and my wife we chose the roast Lamb which I wasn’t expecting to be on the specials board I’m glad it was it was scrumptious and with separate dishes of vegetables including red cabbage and cauliflower cheese and new potatoes and a jug of extra gravy, the atmosphere was good with a great choice in background music, comfy surroundings and absolutely dog friendly, good attentive service and Timothy Taylor’s Beer, I’d love to come back and sample some other dishes but sadly we move on Tuesday and they are closed Monday/Tuesday Highly recommended though

Booked Lunch for four bus passes on a wet Friday afternoon.
Friendly welcome,  beer on form,ate in the bar area by the fire..
Fish dishes Particularly recommended and pork medallions in a tasty sauce. Good size portions!
Room could have been a bit warmer, website menu out of date but still worth 5 star rating

Just had a lovely weekend here.
Lovely large comfortable bedrooms. Outstanding food.  Welcoming hosts.
A place to relax, and enjoy good food.
The suoer  breakfasts will set you up for the day. 
Lots to do in this area of the Yorkshire Dale's......visit Leyburn, Hawes, Northallerton etc.
Will certainly visit again.

Visited the Queen's Head for a family get together at lunchtime. 
The food was very good, all of the staff were very helpful and the service was excellent. 
As a bonus they have a great selection of beers and cider. 
We will certainly visit again next time we are in the area.

Well, where do I start? This has got to be one of the nicest places we've stayed and eaten in a very long time. The service, hospitality were second to none, and wow, the food, outstanding! The room we stayed in was lovely, quiet, cosy and we were able to relax as we'd planned. From the moment we arrived, we knew it was going to be good. Definitely won't be our last visit! Thank you to all involved for making our weekend a perfect one.

Perhaps you wouldn’t directly pass the door but please divert to this pub - you won’t regret it!Can’t imagine better choice or variety of pub food than here. Really good value for money as well. Staff friendly and efficient- thanks for fitting us in at short notice as we travelled.

Perfect place to stay and eat

Perfect weekend stay!

This is probably the best meal I have had in years. I chose two starters and a side order of onion rings.

The food was outstanding and deserving of several Michelin stars to be honest.

But not expensive. I had the pear, blue cheese and pistachio salad and the tomato and pesto tart. I am not a vegetarian, but this standard of cuisine does not come your way very often. 

The menu was varied, with a wide selection of dishes. The pub itself has real character and the locals frequent it which is always a good sign.

What a lovely warm welcome we received!! 
Staff were very welcoming, friendly and attentive. Always making sure we were ok and had everything to make our meal a lovely experience. 
Food was absolutely beautiful, fresh and tasty. Portion size were very good. 
Thank you for a lovely meal. 
Would definitely return!!

Beautiful evening meal

We were staying locally and decided to try this little pub for lunch. The landlord and landlady were polite and friendly and our food was very good, proper home cooked food presented well. 
Our only slight disappointment was that it isn’t dog friendly so our dogs had to stay in the car, not the end of the world but unusual for a little country pub and it’s a problem if you walk there but luckily as we’d driven we could work around it. It did mean we couldn’t walk there for lunch another day with our dogs which was a shame but couldn’t fault the food or service.
