We wandered Brighton looking for cheep drinks and music...just happened to stop here for a quick drink as we were passing.  So glad we did! The drinks/Shots were really cheep and they put on some more up beat music for us group of girls. By the time we left the barman was dancing, the disco ball waz going and we had a great evening.
They really did bend over backwards for us, thank you to the landlord and fantastic bar ban...it made our night!

I give this 5 stars because of how amazing and friendly everyone was to me. Except nick. This guy is the worst guy you will come across. Just ask anyone who has been there a long time. Completely unprofessional, provoking and a bully. Then threatens to call security if you stand up to him. Kick him out. I left because of his attitude. Apart from that everyone was very friendly to me that worked there and the other people who stayed there.

If you read reviews of The King's Arms from earlier than December 2019, you might conclude that it's a dump that nobody in their right mind would visit. You would be right. However it has just re-opened after a refurbishment under new management, and it is a completely different place now.
For a start it is no longer a hostel; it has reverted to being a pub. Redecorated throughout, carpeted, restyled bar, and all clean and well run. It is located in George St, off St. James St at the bottom of the hill (western end of St.James). There is a variety of draft beers at very reasonable prices, full range of spirits and mixers, and I haven't checked but I am sure they do wines as well. They do not serve food at present, but they have only been open again for a few weeks so that may come in the future.
It's quite sport oriented so if you are not a football fan avoid big match nights, but on other nights I have been in and they had 2 screens showing snooker and 3 with football but all screens were silent (with on screen captions) and there was background music, which was not deafening unlike some pubs. There is a dartboard and I understand that they have entertainmemnts some nights, and karaoke.
So all in all a nice place to have a few drinks, very reasonable, and quite comfortable. If you are visiting Brighton it is worth calling in, 2 minutes from bus stop, 5 minutes from pier.

Great location, super easy to find and so close to the centre. The staff were so so lovely and welcoming, made the visit so pleasant. The pub was lovely, drinks prices with great! Got two drinks and still had change :)

Good for a hostel

I arrived late and just wanted to sleep but put up with being eaten alove for four hours before finally leaving at 2.30am to roam the streets on a Saturday night! Not a single hotel that I tried had a room due to the Labour Party conference and I ended up sitting in the train station to keep out of the rain and went without sleep altogether. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT GOING TO THIS HOSTEL.

FLEAS!!!!

Stay overnight there was my most frightening experience with hostels around the world. The dormitory was a small room where they managed ti put bankbeds for 12 people, which I doubt they have licence to... If you slept on the upper bed, It was impossible to sit without hitting the ceiling. Let's not mention the absence of hooks to hang clothes, plugs, any other common facilitiy... But the worst was the stink of mold, dirty feet and whatever, making air unbreathable. Of course mold was everywhere, the door and walls were ready to crumble down. Toilets... dirty, small, run-down and costantly flooded. Such a terribile place attracts the worst shady fellows you can imagine: drunken young guys, dirty people throwing waste, shoos and laundry on the floor, switching the light on, shouting and listening to music at 3 or 5 am.... I was supposed to spend there a second night, but, beside not sleeping, I felt my person and my belongings unsafe, I couldn' t stand that disgustino anymore, and ran away early in the morning looking for another accomodation. DON'T GO THERE!!! 

The worst hostel I have ever been

I'm going to summarize my experience:
1) Horrible rooms and smell had to change room twice even yet both beds were still broken
2) No curtains so we woke up as soon as the sun came out
3) Very dirty showers and toilets
4) Someone broke into my room at 5am!!!!!! thank fully I was awake to scare him out!
5) This place is so bad that I will wake up early and stay out for the whole day cos I don't want to be back there
6) I chose this place because it was booked for me didn't read the reviews or look at pictures or researched what a hostel was but NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOMEONE BROKE INTO MY ROOM

So firstly the advertised images don’t resemble anything like the real hotel. We had booked a double room which looked cute and boasted free towels, coffee, tea and access to shared bathrooms. When we arrived we were informed that our double room was actually just a private dorm so between me and my friend we had 4 triple bunk beds which were dirty, creaky and wobbly and a set of graffitied dirty lockers. The room smelt disgusting and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. The window was half opened and had a sheet of plastic stapled to the wall to cover the massive gap?? There were no curtains so we woke up as soon as the sun rose. Along with the arguing, screaming and crying which sounded to be coming from hostel staff at 6am. The toilets were ok but never had any soap which in the dirtiest hostel you really wanted. As no towels were provided we decided not to brave the showers. The place was honestly disgusting and we considered complaining and asking for a refund but only staying for one night and not knowing if we could find somewhere else we stayed. The experience was terrifying, and only bearable because we were drunk. Stay away this place is horrendous.

The showers are pure mouldy would definitely come out dirtier then when you got in them.
