The hotel is cheap and cheerful. the new bar downstairs is really cool ! 

has Astro turf in the Pub !!!!  Great selection of draught and cider. Will be back with friends. this is a great secret place. nice and quiet.

Love the new bar downstairs, if this reflects on the rooms in the future now it’s under new management then I really can’t wait, nice selection of drinks and cool music.

NEW bar downstairs is awesome !

New Bar downstairs is perfect!! 

Stayed at this place over the bank holiday August 2021 weekend as the hotel we’d booked before had suffered a flooding and was not available. This was an alternative. Walked into the pub and had a drink before following the manager, who was v friendly, up the side alley passage to the accommodation. The accommodation was up a v steep flight of stairs and accessed via locked door. Once inside, the accommodation had a shared toilet and shower on one level next to the shared rest area. Our room was number 3 up another narrow and steep flight of stairs. 

The room was on a slant and had been cleaned. A TV was provided but everything was plugged into an electrical box with a hole in it. It worked but not sure if v safe. The room had a bedside cabinet which looked like it was about to fall apart and the light to go up and down the stairs didn’t stay on for long making going the stairs quite difficult. 

The evenings were grim. The pub gets extremely busy and noisy and to get to your accommodation, you have to run the gauntlet of people partying and smoking. We did worry about our safety, however no-one bothered us as we went to our room each evening. Sleep was at a premium though as the noise from the pub meant earplugs were essential. Both of us woke on each morning feeling exhausted. 

I appreciate the efforts of the staff and nothing wrong there, but this was hard going.

Grim is putting it mildly

My son and I popped in for a quick drink ,place had character,  bar staff was pretty friendly, good selection of local ales,seemed popular with the local, busy when we arrived managed to find a couple of stools.

Cheap and cheerful

The hotel is rooms above a busy city pub. Cheap and convenient for visiting Bedford. 

we were there for a gig, arrived late, went to gig, came back late and left early next day. for that purpose everything was fine.

Simple and friendly

First problem was that they couldn't accept card payments so I had to pay in cash.Also the pub had been closed down so I couldn't contact them directly as no one was there luckily I had received the message about only accepting cash payments so I had that mobile number to call otherwise I would of had to sleep on the streets. The carpet wasn't fitted properly so ever time I had to go out of room It was being pulled back by the door and door would get stuck on it so I had to get down on my knees to put it back under the door and pull it back through. there was a broken plug socket which was dangerously had wires showing. A broken window with a hole in it was letting in a cold breeze even thou it was covered over by a no smoking sticker. kettle was filthy so I didn't feel like it was ok to make a tea or coffee with it. and who ever was in room above me was up and down the stairs continuously until gone 3-4am which was very loud. the hole in window not only was letting the cold air wind and water into the room also the noises from out side,if I even wanted to open the window I couldn't as it was stuck fast. There was no one on property that I know was there that I could speak to about any of the issues I had and if they were I had no idea where or how to find them.

Hotel from hell! No running water supply for the duration of my stay, had to poo in a bucket couldn't even wash my hands! For the 3 days i stayed here i bathed in my own sweat since no water then i had to purchase a gym membership just to shower! They told me would be fixed soon but was never fixed. I had to brush my teeth on the street and spit in the drains!

Me my partner and a friend stopped for a night here and paid 85 pounds. It should have been 40 pounds with the standards they set. Holes in the wall, cigarette ends and ash on the windowsill the TV was smashed and the only place for water supply to e.g. fill the kettle is the shared bathroom tap two floors below. The floor is on a steep slant meaning so were the beds to sleep on. Additionally what they don't tell you is the pub below has music blasting until 1am the the bass that loud it shakes the room and that's even being in the top floor. The cups and even the pint glasses were full of dirt and were brown in the bottom. There is no parking and the way guests get to the bedroom is through a side alley where the smoking area is for the pub full of drunk people. Which I feel is rather unsafe and intimidating. Please avoid at all costs this place to stay as you will have no sleep and be made to feel neglected and unsafe.

We visited Bedford for a sad family funeral. So we wanted accommodation close to everything and not to expensive but we wasn't expecting a complete mess. Don't be fooled by the pictures on the site because they are misleading. We arrived to find the pub below to be very dirty and smelled terrible which seemed to be in the accommodation as well. Whiles shown upstairs to our rooms the manage told us that our room had now been taken so we would have to take a different room. Which we all was shocked at. The floors are very unsafe and uneven. The rooms are dirty and smelled so bad. We didn't know that the shower and toilet was separate from our room instead it was a shared shower and toilet. We was shocked to find toliet paper shuved in loads of big gaps in and around the window making the room very cold. Then to find out the heating didn't work so instead there was a Tiny heater in the corner which also didn't work making us very cold throughout the night. Because of all the gaps we could hear everything from cars, loud music, fighting and shouting from clubers. The shower was blocked so we was unable to use it to get clean. we was unable to use any of toilets or sinks making us to wait and find a toilet in a near by cafe. There were chewing gum stuck to the floor in the room. The cupboard was sticky and dirty. The smoke alarm was hanging off. None of the smoke alarms worked which the cook told us about because she said we was fine to smoke if we were smokers. All the walls were dirty and looked like someone had splashed something all over. There is much more that i could write about but it would go on forever. We did think of going else where but traffic had made us arrive much later than expected and we had a funeral to go to. This trip was already a sad time for us so we could of done without this. Only thing i can say is breatfast in the morning was ok.
