I was a bit nervous in the days leading up to this stay knowing that it is a hotel without a traditional check in desk (not because I am against this, just if there are issues it could be difficult), and others have had difficulty locating the building.  I couldn't be more wrong.  The instructions were clear and easy.  The building now has a sign.  Check in was a breeze.  My room was on the top floor which made it a bit difficult carrying my luggage after a long train ride, but the steps were to be expected and were described.  The room was absolutely lovely and comfortable. I really couldn't have been more pleased with this stay.

Excellent set-up for budget-conscious traveler. Location is in the heart of the city, convenient to shopping and transportation. Easy to explore city from there.Only suggestion is to make arrival instructions a little clearer, since there is no registration desk. Instructions say, "the lockboxes that have your room Key is to your right on the fire exit door."  The lock boxes are actually on an inside wall, behind the fire door. The door appears locked and has a sign that says keep closed. It took me several frustrating minutes to figure out that I had to open the door to get to the lock boxes.

Great little place near locations to shop for groceries, drink and eat. Room was cute and comfortable. Water pressure decent. Have own bathroom. Shares kitchen area/common room. Parking isn't that nearby, but you can unload your luggage.

The Jacobite provided a very central location. I had read recent reviews on the property which made me fear the worst but these were unfounded.Firstly, the location is very central which, in my opinion, is what most people want from a holiday accommodation. The downside of this is noise from the street outside at night time. While this can get noisy if your apartment faces onto the street, how this impacts on you depends very much on when you want to go to sleep. If you go to your bed at 10.30pm then prepare for at least 90 minutes of street noise. If you don't go to your bed until midnight, then you won't  be too bothered by this noise.Hotels in Inverness are expensive! In comparison, the Jacobite was very reasonable for a 2 night stay. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. My only comment would be to be careful when using the small sink in the shower room. There is a glass ledge above this sink which you have to watch out for when bending down to brush your teeth and wash your face as it is easy to bump into it.The staircase is normal size/width it is not overly narrow.We were provided with an email 24 hours before we were due to arrive. This email provided clear instructions regarding access codes to main door and to the room.All in all, we were more than happy with our choice for our two night break and would happily recommend it.

We loved it at Jacobite House. 1st floor room 1 with en suite private bathroom. There is a shared living area and kitchenette but we didn’t use it. So many restaurants and bars within a stone throw, no need to stay in our room. Our suite was newly renovated with modern touches. Clean linens and towels were provided. Self check in via message was clear and precise. Yes we would stay again.

This was a great place to stay and if given the opportunity, I would gladly stay here again.

Loved it!

Excellent location

I only took off a star because this room was on the very top of 3 flights of a narrow winding staircase. I think that if my neice wasn't with me, it would have been WAY harder to get up to our room. It was pretty confusing to get to where we needed to go, as the instructions weren't clear and we thought that we were to go to the first floor room to get the security key, when it was in fact the 3rd floor. The room stated that we were to have a king sized bed, but it was actually a queen. The room was clean. There was a hot water heater and a fan, which was really nice. The bathroom was small, but OK. The 4 rooms on each floor have a shared full kitchen that  you can use. It was helpful to have a full fridge and something to reheat food. The place was hard to find, as it was a random door between two shops, surrounded by construction scaffolding with a very tiny sign indicating where it was. However, the location was great if you wanted to be near shops and pubs. Very very walkable.

Leg Day Workout

We stayed two nights July 3 and July 7 at the Jacobite House as part of our tour of Orkney. The accommodation was perfect for our needs. It was close to the railway station and the pick-up point for Rabbies Tours, and other parts of the town. It was a bit difficult getting to the 3rd floor with our suit cases but the rooms were clean and comfortable. We did have a bit of difficulty in getting the passkey information due to our email connection but everything worked out well. All in all a great experience and highly recommended for other travelers but not those with mobility problems. Thank you.

Orkney stop over.

We liked our room. It was nice and clean. It was a bit hot, so we had the window open at night. There are a lot of pubs nearby, and it does get very noisy with the window open. This made it difficult to sleep, as we had to either endure the heat or the noise. This could be improved by providing fans. Having to go up and down 3 flights of steep steps was also a lot for us. The location is convenient and near a Co-Op and restaurants though.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Jacobite House. Our room was very clean, quiet and had all of the amenities we needed. The staff were also very friendly and quick to respond to any questions we had. Additionally,  house is located in a very central location, which is easy to walk to everything. My only comment would be that the bed was a little hard for our taste and it is a hike up some steep stairs with your suitcases if that is difficult for you. Overall though I would definitely recommend the Jacobite House.

Nice, clean and convenient

This was a gem! We loved the location on church street, which made us close to Inverness dining and shopping. The rooms had recently been renovated (evidently earlier in 2024) and everything was truly well-done and beautiful. We appreciated the common living room and kitchen, in addition to our private en-suite room. The king bed was quite comfortable, and the room was quite large (compared to other UK rooms from our trip).  This hotel, naturally, does not provide breakfast, but there are breakfast places nearby. We even had breakfast delivered easily to us one morning.

Beautiful and unique hotel!

A little difficult to find (just a single door at street level) and a climb up 4 flights of stairs to reach the apartments, but once there the room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Had to park a few blocks away, but other than that the location was excellent, a few steps from numerous bars and restaurants.
