Goodbye to £600, and hello to the experience of being fobbed off.
Last year I booked to stay at this hotel as my son was running in the Brighton marathon, he also booked to stay at this hotel. The marathon was cancelled due to‘ lockdown‘ and the hotel offered to reschedule. However, it could not accommodate us at the time of the rescheduled Brighton marathon, which was late cancelled altogether. We booked for the last weekend in October and this booking was confirmed by email. All well and good.
Earlier last week I phoned the hotel to enquire of their Covid-19  security/management strategies and to confirm an approximate arrival time. Unfortunately, the hotel manager (Robert) informed me that we did not have a reservation, at which I informed him that the Imperial Hotel had emailed its own confirmation sometime ago. His response is to inform me that the Imperial Hotel is closed and all calls were redirected to Langford‘s hotel. My multiple enquiries of why we had not been informed, why the hotel was closed and why they breached their contract with me and also their duty of care to a customer, all yielded the same response which was that I should email my concerns to info@Langfordshotel.com  This I did, but it automatically redirected to Courtlandsnik@gmail.com,and I am still waiting for a reply. Later in our conversation I was informed that the Imperial Hotel is “full of self isolating foreign students“..
Feeling somewhat disgruntled by the situation and having made my initial booking via the Booking.com website I thought I should raise my concerns for their own customer service department. Unfortunately, after both telephone calls and a lengthy email dialogue I am fobbed off , being informed that they can only ask the hotel to make a refund, not enforce it. 
I have been using Booking.com for many years, for trips associated with both leisure and work, and to my entertainment, have achieved the status of ‘ Genius’. I think my status should now be changed to Disgruntled. 
Also, can I advise anybody reading this review to also read the reviews for Langford hotel, and Courtlands hotel as they seem to operate the same customer care policy.

Goodbye to £600.

I stayed at this hotel in April 2019 and had a fantastic experience the hotel room was a little dated but the staff bent over backwards to help us. I rebooked 9 rooms for April 2020 as myself and some friends were running the Brighton Marathon . Sadly the Marathon was postponed due to Covid 19 so I rescheduled the booking for September 2020. Again the Marathon was cancelled and therfore did not need the rooms. I tried to communicate with the hotel by email and telephone, which were ignored. I finally got to speak to a duty manager at a sister hotel, The Courtlands, who was really very unhelpful and defensive bordering on the aggressive and dismissive. I confirmed that we would cancel the booking and asked if the deposit could be refunded. The deputy manager told me they were so busy they were turning people away, so im sure they could have resold the rooms. I've had a short email from the deputy manager telling me that we would not receive a refund of the deposit. Given the unusual circumstances we find ourselves in, I'm sure they could have refunded the deposit. It's so sad, I will never use this hotel again and urge you not to either

cheated out if £1000 deposit

In February I booked a room at the hotel via Booking.com. due to the poor handling of covid-19 in the UK my trip has been cancelled. I'm told I can just cancel the room with a comment stating that it's because of covid-19, then I'd get my money back. It now turns out after 2 months of rushing for the money that booking.com or the hotel will keep the money. I feel like I've had my money stolen. I can't recommend booking.com or the hotel.

Cheated by the hotel and the booking company

We were due to stay at Imperial Hotel this weekend - had booked 5 rooms.  I called 1 week before to ensure all was ok with the booking to be told the Hotel is CLOSED.  We were not advised about this.  We asked for our £75 deposit back and told they would not do this as we were cancelling the booking (this email came through from another hotel called Langford Hotel!)  We advised we DID NOT cancel the booking they were NOT open.  They are now not answering their phones or my emails and have not refunded our money.  We will be taking this further.

I would give a MINUS if i could

Room was clean and tidy. It could do with updating as it was looking tired. The bathroom had some very poorly laid sealant all over the tiles which made it look tatty. Lots of steps involved in getting to room. Breakfast was excellent.

Clean Room friendly staff right by the seafront what more could you want - definitely Coming back to the Imperial and will be recommending to anyone else that is planning to visit Brighton.

We booked two rooms at the Imperial which were very clean and comfortable and very reasonably priced. My wife and I had a double room and or daughter and grandchildren had a triple. Both rooms were airy and clean. We were welcomed by friendly, efficient staff. We did not use the restaurant this visit, so cannot comment on the food but we would definitely use the Imperial again.

A very nice break

Second time I have stayed. The room had a comfy bed tv with various channels tea/coffee and cleaned daily. Receptionists were efficient and I found Caroline to be very friendly and helpful. It is in a good location near the seafront and a good bus service at the top of the road if you wish to go into Brighton centre. Definitely will stay again on my next visit to Brighton. Very happy with the pice I paid.

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely lovely! It was also our first stay at a hotel in England, so I'm glad it was so good. Very friendly staff, very clean and welcoming. The bar with billiard table was also lovely.  We'll definitely come again.

Imperial Hotel feedback

We are regular visitors to this hotel, and always enjoy our stay, the staff are very friendly and the room is large and clean. Can't wait to go back, our next visit is in May. The hotel is situated in Hove and is a great walk into Brighton along the promenade.
