Very convenient location; had a very comfortable night's sleep. Would use this venue again.

The staff were welcoming and friendly. The room was modern, impeccably maintained, and spotlessly clean, which exceeded my expectations. A delightful surprise was the espresso machine in the room—such a thoughtful touch! I enjoyed my short stay and would happily return in the future.

Good stay, comfortable, reasonably quiet for city centre pub. Plan to stay again.

It's a nice place to stay. Rooms are very nice and tidy. Also., brilliant pub at ground floor 👍❗

The propert was lovely, our room was modern and up to date. The beds and pillows were so comfortable and clean! The bathroom was so lovely and clean. I loved that you didnt have to go through the pub to get to the rooms although there was a walkway into the pub at the bottom of the steps if you wished too. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

Easy checking in but only from 2pm to 6pm. Very comfy bed, warm room, tea and coffee facilities. Powerful shower. Handy location very close to train station.Pay and display car park behind pub however can only park from 2pm to 5am and then need to leave for an hr before return. Unfortunately room smelled of cigarette smoke. I’m not sure if people in room next door had been smoking and it was coming through bathroom vent or if there had been smoking in the room. Also there were hairs in the bed and sheets were stained.

Comfy over all

I stayed in a very clean, tidy and tastefully decorated room, with excellent en-suite with shower. The room was in a modern extension behind the pub, which had various nautical paraphernalia but due to my plans, I didn't get to try out the food or drinks. I had no noise issues. Convenient 5-minute (or less) walk from Chelmsford station.My only disappointment was that breakfast wasn't available, but that probably says more about my planning.

Clean and tidy room, above expectation for a pub

When we arrived the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room we had was en-suite and very clean. The tea and coffee facilities were great (proper coffee machine in the room). The bed was really comfortable, which made for a good nights sleep. The only thing I would recommend to those using a satnav or maps to find it would be, put the actual address in not just the postcode as ours took us to a different location.Other than that would highly recommend The Ship!!

We stayed two nights at the Ship, the rooms were well appointed, nice and warm, the food served in the pub was very good, the staff were frendly and helpful.The music in the pub on the Friday night was exceptionally loud and didnt really suit with the average age of the clientele.Saturday night music was at a much more reasonable level.I would definitely stay at the ship again.

Check in was easy and staff helpful with showing the room and exits/entrances. Room good and clean. Comfortable bed. Only downside is that the area is noisy at night and first thing in the morning when street cleaning is done, but we had expected that due to the locality. Very convenient for the centre of Chelmsford.

Good hotel to use for a night on the town. Located near the station and bars. The room had everything you could need, tea making and a fan which is great as you do not need to open the windows as you must appreciate you are in a busy city therefore it can be noisy. Parking is at the back which is a pay and display, you can pay for overnight parking but the issue with the car park is your ticket runs out at 8am and you can not renew or extend it. My advice would be if your not an early riser park at Bond St it will be more expensive but is only a short stroll away.

I would definitely stay in the Ship hotel Chelmsford again. the Ship hotel was close to the bus station and the railway station, locally and easy to access. In future I will book earlier to get a room with en-suite facilities, they had only 2 en-suite rooms only, I was too late to book one of these rooms. The staff were very friendly, food was very nice and well presented, and the offerings from the bar were superb.

A hotel to try for half the price of a Premier Inn

It was okay. My daughter loved it however. The smell of cigarettes in our room was choking wleven worh the freshner provided.  The water in the bathroom os not well regulated, hard to control and good temperature. The toilet had one roll pertime, extras would have been lovely.   Having to pay for car park staying over for 2 nights is challenging, The ship can consider a parking card for lodgers.
