Had a great weekend the hosts were so lovely & friendly 
Room was small but immaculately clean soft fluffy towels bed was comfy and snugly
Tea/ coffee facilities in room
Walk into town was about 25 mins but was ok lots to do in town
Water supplied in room with mini fridge with milk & juice 
Breakfast was the best

Medieval themed B&B that didn't disappoint. Good nights sleep in comfortable bed with good ensuite facilities, hosts attention to detail 1st class. I challenge you to find a better locally sourced  full English breakfast dear traveller! 

Such a beautiful, unique bed and breakfast. It has the wow factor as soon as you step through the door. The couple who run it are so welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much for them. The bedrooms again have the wow factor when you walk in and we just stood there for a while taking in the atmosphere of it all. You have everything you need from a cosy bed, kettle, coffee, tea, sugar, hot chocolates and a little fridge filled with fruit juices and milk. They even leave you a sweet little gift on your bed with your breakfast menu. Definitely stay at this bed and breakfast, you will not be disappointed!

This is one of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed at. Really quirky. Wonderful themed rooms, so clean & tidy. Everything you might need was in your room. Breakfast was delicious and my mum who is a Coeliac was well catered for. Michelle & Phil are the loveliest hosts we have ever met. If you are going to Hastings you would be fools not to stay here. We will certainly be going back.

Everything about this place is gorgeous, authentic and you can tell a lot love has been put into this it. Had a wonderful weekend and Michelle and Phill could not have been more accommodating, down to rememebering where we like to sit and getting us extra water. Do not hesistate to book a room!

This beautiful place to stay exceeded all our expectations. It is exquisite! From the moment we arrived our hosts Phill and Michelle went above and beyond to make our stay truly memorable. The attention to detail is nothing short of exemplary. Breakfast was superb, from the presentation to the food. We cannot wait to visit again

We spent bank holiday weekend here and had a fabulous time. The owners are a lovely couple really friendly and make you feel so welcome. The guest house is spotless and decorated with a medieval theme which is well done through the dining area and bedrooms. Breakfast was super plentiful and freshly cooked to order. 

This place is fantastic,  the attention to detail is unreal,  the personal friendly welcome,  the medieval theme carried out throughout the building,  the dining rooms, the bed room,all little details that have been added just add to the experience, everywhere you look there is another little touch that show how much thought and care has been put into this place.

And the breakfast is bloody brilliant as well,  this place is well worth a visit

We originally considered this because it was the closest remaining b & b to our friends' home, but on looking at the description, realised it was going to be a really interesting experience.  We were right! There's not much outside the property to suggest what the inside is like, but the griffin statues on the steps up to the front door, and the little minstrel and jester statues inside the porch, give a clue. 

Once you step through the door, to be welcomed by the delightful hosts, Phill and Michelle, you are surrounded with objets and decor, that all reflect their interest in the Middle Ages, and the theme of minstrels.  Their attention to detail is extraordinary, from little, minstrel stickers on the loo rolls, to the wax seal on your receipt, when you leave.   The breakfast room is like a baronial hall, complete with a suit of armour.  

Each bedroom is named after a famous minstrel, and there is a brief description of him in the room information.  Our room was really well-equipped, with a fridge (containing fresh milk, juice and bottled water), as well as a hair-dryer and straighteners.  The bed was extremely comfortable.  Our room was not en-suite, but we had sole use of a spotless bathroom, just down the hall, which had a spa bath (which we sadly never got round to using!), and was well-stocked with toiletries (even including a toothbrush & toothpaste) and lots of lovely, fluffy towels.

You fill in a form the night before, with what you want for breakfast, and the choice is huge: 11 (yes, 11!) types of sausage, including wild boar and beef with horseradish.  If you don't fancy a full English, there are other options, like a bacon sandwich or eggs benedict.  You even get to say if you want your toast with, or after, the cooked breakfast.  Everything is locally sourced, and the jams (with quirky names!) are all home-made, and for sale, along with wine and mead.  The crockery is all handmade pottery, and the cutlery and napkin rings all echo the medieval style.  The food itself was all served piping hot, and was absolutely delicious.

Minstrel's Rest totally deserves its really high rating, especially considering its very reasonable price: £170 for two nights in the middle of summer. 

If you are a fan of minimalism, this place is not for you, but if you are looking for something unique, created with love and passion, then we can't recommend it enough!

Brilliant, if you like Quirky

My boyfriend and I stayed at this wonderful hotel in March 2019. We were greeted by Phil and Michelle who couldn't have been more helpful or more welcoming.

 We were lucky enough to stay in the beautiful King room with the four poster bed. Everything was beautifully presented and incredibly clean.

The bed was extremely comfortable and we had a great night's rest having explored some of the local restaurants.

Breakfast in the morning was beautifully laid out in their dining room and absolutely delicious. We would highly recommend the blueberry pancakes which were made fresh to order with generous portions and a selection of their yummy home made jams.

The hotel offers a unique, medieval feel, which Phil and Michelle are clearly very passionate about.

We hugely recommend the Minstrel's Rest and thank you for a wonderful stay. We can't wait to return.
