Having read the previous review about the hotel closing, this seems a bit superfluous now, but I thought this was an excellent value for money place to stay. The rooms were clean, the hotel was clean, reception friendly and efficient, the bed excellent, the room was spacious and perfect for what was needed which was an overnight stay for the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Location was actually really good and it was nice and quiet.
Sorry to see its closing, I would happily have returned for future visits to Goodwood. I wish the staff all the best.

Ideal place to stay when visiting that area, beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms very clean.  Staff were wonderful, I was one of many guest staying over for a wedding in the area.  The staff even helped a harassed bridegroom iron his shirt, how helpful was that, well done travelodge 

Stayed in room 26...was working pretty local and hotel was ideal, 
regarding previous reviews.. Yeah, corridors and stairways are pretty grubby but my room was good bathroom was clean as was my bed abd tv and wifi where great,
sofa bed was dirty but what you would expect from a £44 room
I'd stay again if i was working down there

I have never felt the urge to write a review about a hotel, however... I have been using the Metro at Liphook for a number of years, on checking in last night I was informed that they were being forced to close. The Metro is a budget motel with budget prices, it's main client base was hard working contractors looking for a comfortable but affordable place to lay their weary heads. Rooms were en-suite, had a fridge, microwave, large screen TV and pedestal fan, all for the princely sum of £40 [ish], looking at previous postings it would appear that it is typical of some reviewers wanting to pay budget prices but expecting a 5* hotel, what has compounded the Metro's problems is that the parent company has been unwilling to spend any cash on the upkeep of the building, leaving the Manager [Lester] and his staff to do their best with no budget. well done you skinflints on getting the Metro closed.

The Metro at Liphook to Close

This is a bottom of the range hotel and you get what you pay for, saying that we were there for four nights and were quite happy.  Unlike other reviews we found it clean and comfortable.  Our room was on the first floor, but there was no lift. The room was a good size.We never smelt damp, yes the bed was low, but fine for us. We did not have a fridge or a microwave in our room, just tea and coffee making facilities and a tv. You have to ask reception for a hairdryer or an iron and ironing board, but the staff were happy to oblige. There is free wifi and plenty of free parking.  Yes there was chipped paint and things were a bit past their best, but this hotel is not trying to be anything it's not. In my opinion it's ok fior the money
