Stayed in a double bed room with en suite, excellent service and room was clean and tidy, would definitely go again, was perfect for staying a night before the climb before Snowdon, good area that is quiet but close to food and the sea. Even parking available

Comfortable rooms (warm even on a very cold night), good food, excellent beer and a very friendly welcome; will certainly be back. The bar is very popular with local people too - even mid week so it's always quite lively with good live music the night I stayed

Love this place ,staff are excellent, we mingle in with some locals have a laugh and learn some Welsh. Food is amazing . We came with our labrador he was welcomed and loved by a quite a few people.  We've stayed here many times will be back before Christmas if any availability.  Thank you all ,we appreciate your efforts and kindness. We are always up for contributing towards local community run businesses.  Big thanks to zara(if spelt correctly lol) for learning me some basic language in the smoking hut 🤣. We will hopefully meet again.

This review is for lunch and the dinner we had. We didn't stay in the hotel.

Very friendly staff and lovely soup at lunch after a hike locally, our dog was also welcome. We came back for dinner later and enjoyed that too.

We stayed for a couple of days and had a great time..very friendly room lovely and great meals both nights sat in the beer garden we had two dogs with us and they went out of their way to accommodate them would highly recommend staying in this hotel 

What a little gem of a place. Stayed here over the weekend. Friendly staff on arrival and checked in and in our room in no time. Good sized room, comfy beds, good sized shower.
Had food here on both evening - portion size does not disappoint, especially to 2 hungry walkers! This is a great base to explore the surrounding areas.
Breakfast - again staff were attentive and friendly. 

Bonus - dog friendly!

And to anyone that missed the penguin cartoon just inside the front door. You missed a treat - made me giggle..

The room was lovely, shower was really god and the bes was super comfy.
The location was grear, beautiful scenery and close to Snowdon. The staff were super friendly and the price was really good!

Awesome place to stay, beautiful views and a very friendly atmosphere. Live music on the night we stayed plus the local welsh choir were singing too. Lots to do in the local area, even just walking and photographing the scenic views. Food was good and reasonably priced.

A lovely hotel on a very good location to explore North Wales with  parking  outside. The staff were amazingly helpful and even prepared a packed lunch as we were leaving before breakfast. Good food, lovely clean rooms with tea and coffee making facilities highly recommended.

A great pub, lovely food in the evening wih a choice of beers & ales at the bar & a wood burner, with a continental breakfast, big comfy room with en-suite shower room (No. 4). Couldn't get a signal with the TV in the room but not an issue, & maybe an egg-boiling facility with breakfast could be a bonus? Great walks nearby especially to local waterfalls, which were impressive due to recent rainfall! All in all, a great stay!

Visit to climb Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) nearby

Beautiful place in a perfect hot spot of blanau 

Really good authentic community pub/hotel. Friendly reception and local atmosphere. Very good value. Room was clean and well equipped. Food was basic pub grub but excellent quality using locally sourced ingredients. The burgers were really good using Welsh Black beef and local lamb. Cask ales were a nice compliment. Continental buffet breakfast was included in the room price. Can not fault the stay in any way.

Little gem with views for miles

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Y Pengwern. It is a very old hotel now being run by a local community group. We particularly enjoyed being there on the Saturday night when men of the area gather to sing in Welsh. The environment is beautiful and we enjoyed local trail walks. The Ffestiniog railway is a great experience. 

A delightful place to stay

A beautiful find with friendly locals, lovely bar with a wood burning stove and cosy rooms. Very dog friendly, decent continental breakfast included makes this even better value for money. Adore the fact this is run by the community, helping to preserve if for everybody rather than some rich shareholder or pub-by-numbers chain. Great team, friendly locals - we will be back.
