Only stayed 2 nts, hospitality was great, would stay again

Great weekend stay for a birthday party nearby! Thank you loads!

This lovely quaint Guest House was ideal for us on New Year's Eve as we were invited to a Masquerade Ball held at The Queens Hotel which was only a 6 minute walk away from the Guest House. We were initially thinking of going by taxi but trying to get a taxi on New Year's Eve is a nightmare and there's no guarantee anyway that they would actually turn up. Also, the taxi was working out about the same price as a one night stay here! Hence, it was a no-brainer. The property has excellent free parking around the back. The bed was nice and comfortable, the shower was powerful and the room was spacious, warm and quiet. The host (Heather) is a really charming lady and it was lovely chatting to her over breakfast. We had fresh fruit and yoghurt, tea and toast (lots of choices for jams, honey, marmalades etc). Heather then brought in some yummy freshly cooked croissants which were a real treat with a nice coffee. This was the perfect stay for us and meant that we could enjoy New Year's Eve without the stress of how we were going to get home. We would have no hesitation in booking this venue again for future stays. Thank you so much Heather! 😊

Great and attentive host who made me feel very welcome. The B&B is clean, the room was comfortable and had everything I needed. As a woman on my own I felt very safe in the property and the walk back from the high street was well-lit and very straightforward.

Heather was an amazing host; a lovely lady who made you feel very welcome from arrival until departure. Breakfast, although continental had a very wide range of choice. Menu's were available to order a takeaway which we did on arrival. Safe parking is available at the property, along with ironing facilities. Yes, the building is worn and dated and could benefit from some repairs and decoration, but if you're just doing a quick visit which we were, this is a great choice.

Lovely host!

I have stopped here now a number of times with my three boys and my family. Heather is an amazing host very friendly the communal bar/lounge is a great meeting spot for us all to come together. The rooms are always very clean and nothing is to much trouble. Thanks for hosting us again Heather we will see you again soon

Home away from home

I stayed in July 2022 and was warmly met at reception by the owner. It is a relatively small but comfortable guest house, complete with bar (and pool table).

I normally stay out of town in Gosport, but on this occasion, my team were having a meal in town and it was handy being able to walk back as it is in easy striking distance.

It is incredibly laid back and I would recommend for both business people and social travellers. I note from another review that dogs are welcome, so I may well use this in the future for travelling.

A warm welcome with a friendly atmosphere.Comfortable room with good facilities.Breakfast was continental-style with a good range of foods including fruit, cereals and fresh toast, available.The owner was very helpful and chatty.The area was fairly quiet.The price was reasonable - good value.I enjoyed my stay and would stay again.

Good location, interesting house.

The house is easily accessible from the motorway and main roads. it is near to the sea, port and local attractions.
Heather is very friendly and welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble.Our room was freshly decorated with new carpets. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The shower is over the bath and was hot and powerful enough.
Continental breakfast was varied and plentiful. 
There is ample off-street parking.
We would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to others.

Great value for money, and everything you need from a value B&B

I had a one night stopover here and was made to feel very welcome by Heather.  Lovely old building with high ceilings, clean and comfortable and good access to the local amenities.  

Not that I used it, but I loved the fact that there is an honesty bar.  How many of the hotel chains would do something like that?? 

There is a car park around the back of the building which is not immediately obvious, but go to the traffic lights, turn left and the entrance is almost immediately on your left.

Would I stay here again?  Yes.

Lovely find.

The self catering apartment we rented (Olive Tree) was clean and cosy with character (some might say dated!).  The welcome from Heather the landlady was an excellent start to our holiday with plenty of information about the area and nearby amenities/attractions . Very impressive flat with most things included in the kitchen & bathroom including plenty of cleaning products (currently under some coronavirus procedures). There were games and books if required. The apartment is well located for trips to Portsmouth by foot ferry and there are several nice walks around Gosport itself. There are a few supermarkets nearby but Portsmouth is better for general shopping needs. We had a thoroughly relaxing stay- bed was comfy and very little road traffic at back of property. Parking available on first come basis in small yard behind property or can park outside on road nearby.

Everything you need for a relaxing short break

Room was clean and tidy (including bathroom), however there did seem to be a mould problem on the bathroom ceiling. The bed was much smaller than we are used to and seemed pretty soft so we often rolled into each other in the middle! Staff were helpful, accomodating and friendly. On the first morning we almost ate some very mouldy bread which had been put out for us (the bread was past its date by a week)

Good but could be better

I visited the guesthouse with a friend and we were both impressed with the friendliness of the hostess and the facilities.It is next door to the old railway station used by Queen Victoria.The guesthouse has a quaint old world feeling but the room we stopped in was very modern and had all the necessary modern features.The kitchenette was well equipped and enables you to eat in.It takes you about fifteen minutes at most to walk to the shopping centre in Gosport and the ferry station to take you over to Portsmouth.The naval dockyard is then only a few more minutes to get there on foot.We would be very happy to stop there again
