We had an absolutely lovely time here room was full of character which we loved and the bar and food was outstanding, surroundings were beautiful and we will definitely return the staff went above and beyond to help being disabled even moving us to a downstairs room - Mollie was lovely company last night and the breakfast was amazing thank you all

Lovely old building with all its characteristics. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and the bed very comfy.  stayed for 2 nights and only ate there and the food was outstanding.

We really enjoyed our stay. Lovely friendly staff, great food and service. The room was well equipped and comfortable with lots of character.

The staff are really passionate about their work. The breakfast was amazing so was the food on an evening. Perfect if you want to fly fish and stay over.

I dont often leave reviews, although I stay away often, usually at chain hotels. The Team at the Old Mill were great, good check in experience, decent dinner and breakfast. Will be coming back when in the area again.

Old stone watermill so quaint but comfortable rooms. Food excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Area beautiful.

This is a hidden gem of a pub. The place is interesting and the staff are lovely and friendly, rooms are different but that's what adds character and charm.The food was excellent - only downside is no internet in rooms and phone signal not good.

Stayed here Thursday 9th November. We were met by a lovely lady (Pauline) and showed to our very quaint and cosy room. Loved the feel of the room it was so cute but very functional too. Great bathroom with plenty of space. Lots of character. We had a couple of drinks in the bar which had a roaring log fire and we almost fell asleep on the very comfortable sofa! After a proper nap we had dinner which was also very very nice. Vegetable soup for me and garlic mushrooms on toast for husband. Followed by steak for me and duck for husband. We did not leave much! A very very comfortable brass bed almost made us miss breakfast as we slept through until 8.30 and breakfast was booked at 9! Breakfast again was a straightforward full english with very good quality items, very nice bacon and sausage. Choice of toast and a good coffee. Thank you Pauline and everyone for a very relaxing 24 hours in charming surroundings.

Outstanding and beautiful

A lovely welcome to a lovely, remote Old Mill house..! The place is beautiful but needs a little TLC which works are being carried out now.  The room was OK, big enough but a very cold bathroom - no heat in there at all.. The bed was old & creaky but clean & we slept OK. Tea & Coffee in the room. Bar area and breakfast was first class - always served with a smile.  Open fire in bar area made it very cosy.  We would stay again. Would love to see the place a little busier which I'm sure it will be once all the remedial works are carried out (new roof was going on & general works around the building) Lovely spot with great walks. Thank you!

Old fashioned cosy homely stay

The lady in charge was very helpful and the room was comfortable.  The breakfast you ordered the night before and said what time you would like it for.  It was plated up and ready for you to start straight away.  Replenished the tea and coffee at the table and also in the room. Any problems were dealt with once they had been made aware.  All the old equipment around the restaurant and pub area was lovely to see making it very quaint.

Peaceful beautiful setting.

We arrived on the Tuesday and were quickly and efficiently checked in. The lovely lady who checked us in also asked if we wanted a reservation for dinner that evening, we booked for 7.30pm. The place is run by a lovely lady along with her daughter ( who checked us in ). I'll break down each part so it reads better.

Accommodation - We had room 7
The bedroom was very rustic which added to the character of the room. Bed was comfy and was big enough for the 2 of us. The TV was tiny but to be honest, we never really had it on. Tea and coffee facilities were decent.
Bathroom was very dated and could really do with an upgrade. The shower was very small and although i fitted in ( just ) I can see how a larger person may struggle. 

Dining - We had breakfast each morning and ate there every night.
Breakfast was spot on, you could have a full english which I did each day, my wife asked if she could have poached eggs with bacon on toast, the owner was more than happy to accommodate that. You could also get a decent choice for a continental.
Dinner was really good. Over the 3 nights I had Steak pie ( you could have fed a family with the size of the pie ) Fish n chips ( again huge portion ) and duck. My wife had Pasta ( slightly over cooked ), Steak and chicken parma.
Plenty of choice of drinks on offer, the Coors was my favourite and I sunk quite a few.

We visited Consett which was nice 45 min walk, loads of cafes and pubs. We decided on a Wetherspoons ( The company row ). We ordered 2 small pizzas and 2 drinks all for £11.98, amazing value and tasted ok.
We also went to Lanchester which was about a 90 min walk, again a lovely wee place and a few cafes and pubs.

All n all, a brilliant stay and we will definitely return. We went for a kid free relaxing time and that's exactly what we got.

We stayed for one night a  lovely B&B / pub booked with  a wowcher deal great value  for money 
The owner and her staff were very welcoming and so friendly a great find has a fabulous popular sunny beer garden spacious room and a lovely comfortable bed we had dinner in the restaurant the food was excellent and breakfast was lovely with lots options we will return

A lovely stay

The owner and staff were very friendly, attentive and accommodating.  The food was excellent in both quality and quantity and good value. All cooked freshly to order.The rooms were of a decent size and full of character and generally well kept.  The bar was well stocked with great choice, particularly lagers.My only criticisms were noise from other rooms.  Although I understand that it is an old building, if the upstairs rooms were to have a good quality underlay and carpets this might baffle much of the noise from foot movements.  The shower could do with modernising and there was thick dust under the bed and wardrobe.All in all we really enjoyed the stay and hope to return again in the future.

Great friendly place

Rooms were clean and tidy.  We enjoyed a traditional pub meal before attending a local event.  The taxi we booked failed to show on time and one of the staff took us, which was great.
