The Oak at Dewlish

This is a great little rural pub that caters for local and visitors. 

There are fancier meals available locally, but the food is comforting, tasty and great value for money.

The bar is also welcoming if you just fancy a pint or two, with a great, welcoming atmosphere.

Dogs are also welcome.

stayed in the coach house right next door to the oak, wonderful self catering accommodation, had everything we needed, just whats needed to relax and unwind. the oak is a proper country pub serving a wide range of meals..perfect pint of ice cold madri ,,thanks roy and staff,,especially sarah...see you guys next year

I had the most amazing lunch presented on a slate platter, a steak finely cooked, cut and laid out on the platter with fresh salad. The asian sauce complimented the meal. spot on ! and I do hope this chef stays to continue his top class recipies.

I shall certainly be back with the family for more. Well done The Oak at Dewlish.

This is a really lovely place to stay. I was given the 2 bedroom cottage next door to the pub, and it is very well catered for. Kitchen, living room, dining area, etc. Bathroom was very clean. Great place for morning walks and dinner at the pub next door. Very quiet and peaceful. Will definitely stay here again.

Really nice place to stay with friendly staff & good food.Parking is very limited but it is possible to park on the road

Fantastic R & R provided at a lovely pub!  Very friendly helpful staff, great beer, FANTASTIC food and clean throughout.  I can't recommend this place highly enough.  Neither my wife nor I had heard of Dewlish, but we are certainly intending to return.

Room was excellent, private entrance to the rooms. Staff were brilliant. You'd never know there was a pub below you as I never a peep. The pub/restaurant serves freshly cooked food and are very generous with the portions, very nice and peaceful pub in a beautiful area. Would definitely stay again.

Called last minute and they happily fitted us in before the kitchen closed. Very pleasant young lady serving, took our order just before 25 cyclists turned up. Food was delivered quick, and was lovely and tasty. Good value for money. Will definitely come back next year

I cant speak highly enough of our stay at the oak at dewlish. This is classic old village pub, the atmosphere is very local and welcoming. Really nice countryside around. The rooms felt like they were newly refurbished in a nice way and very comfortable. Really nice for the price point. The food is very good, classic pub grub and a good breakfast

Located in a quiet rural  sleepy English village is this charming pub with rooms. The tired looking outside contradicts the nicely decorated room. It's small with a tiny bathroom but had the usual facilities and was clean. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Food was really very good, simple but delicious.

Very nice village type pub, very nice evening menu, & food  pleasant staff, although it says breakfast at 8-30 , they will do an earlier breakfast if you ask, parking may be an issue, as it’s on road, outside the pub , there is a small car park to the rear via a very narrow entrance, otherwise all good,

Visiting family in the area again. We visited the Oak back in July 2019 and were amazed. Visited last Friday evening for dinner and on Sunday for Roast beef lunch. The pub remains with a warm friendly welcome, fine selection of drinks and food cooked by master chef Will whom we met later and actually gave us a lift home!
Roy and Mi Yeong were superb hosts on both occasions. Mi Yeong played piano and sang a beautiful Korean song in her native tongue whilst a local Irishman belted out a very moving old folk song.
Really made my trip back to the motherland from Australia worthwhile.
We shall return. Thank you.


Autumnal offerings.

We visited The Oak for a family meal, having never been here before, we could only go on previous reviews. We we’re not disappointed, we had a very warm welcome as we entered the pub, we were shown to our table and given a few minutes to settle before our drinks and food order was taken. Three of us had the sirloin steak and one of us had the burger. The steak was amazing, tasty, tender and cooked perfectly an added bonus with it being locally sourced, the burger was equally as tasty. We also had pudding, two summer fruit crumbles and custard, one syrup sponge pudding and ice cream and a banana split… all of them were delicious. 
The portion sizes are just right… the atmosphere of the pub is very welcoming, the young lady that took our orders and worked behind the bar was amazing, constantly on the ‘go’ and very attentive to every guest. I’d absolutely recommend a visit if you’re in the area, you won’t be disappointed A⭐️

Family meal..

Visiting family in Puddletown for the bank holiday weekend, reserved a table for dinner on Sunday
Three sirloin steaks and a burger, absolutely perfectly cooked steak, great flavour and very tender meat, all three cooked exceptionally 
The meals were that good we decided to have pudding, fruit crumble, syrup sponge pudding and a banana split, again all faultless, tasty delicious food 
really impressed with the bar lady, under a lot of pressure serving two bars, taking food orders and being very friendly and welcoming 
Hidden gem of an establishment, definitely will be back next time we’re down!

What a great fine. I booked one night at the Oaks after flying from the US. This accommodation was a halfway point and we needed a easy quiet place to stay the night. We arrived about 4pm on the Saturday. We were the only people at the pub. The check in was quick and easy. We had two of the 2 available rooms. We ate dinner outside and chose from a traditional menu. Good variety - which included choices for our teenage daughters. 
We were initially concerend that the rooms would be loud as they overlooked the beer garden. At 11pm the staff came out and closed everything up. 
Breakfast was another great meal. We enjoyed talking to the cook/server. We loved the whole experience.
