Staff very friendly,room clean ,brilliant breakfast ( very important ) very nice place to be.Ideal position for roaming around Loch Ken

I stopped here, as I was ill. The staff made me lemon herbal drink and brought it to my room, they very kind to me. The Anex room was basic but Very reasonably priced for a room with bathroom

Great little village inn. The proprietor and chef Michelle was welcoming and friendly. The attached restaurant was delicious. We had a beautiful dinner and Scottish breakfast the following morning. You definitely get a great glimpse of village life in this friendly little village pub. The room was clean and comfortable. You will enjoy it here! Thank you for your lovely Scottish hospitality.

We stayed here this weekend. Nice secluded location, very quiet.
We were met with a warm smile. 
Unfortunately one of the locals in the bar wasn't in his best form, but the staff made up for it and we're very apologetic, really not there fault..
Breakfast was amazing, and the evening meal was delicious.
Will be happy to come back one day to use as a base or even stop for a meal on the way through.

i would not hesitate to highly recommend the food at theThistle. Nicely decorated dining room with welcoming and efficient staff. The quality and quantity of the food is excellent, with a varied menu to suit everyone. Good value for money. Michelle and her team are doing a grand job ! 
Certainly and asset to locals and visitors to Crossmichael.

Lovely 2 night stay at The Thistle. Very spacious and comfortable room, with all the amenities you could need.
Staff all very friendly and Michelle was a great host, going out of her way to ensure we were happy and content.
Would definitely recommend.

Michelle has a lovely hotel it is very clean and the room we had was very spacious.  It had everything in it for a good nights stay.  Michelle is very welcoming and helped us out with our last minute preparations for our canoeing trip.  Don't hesitate to book.  We will be back again thank you Michelle.

This room (or at least the one we had which was a sort of loft conversion, accessed by metal plane style stairs) was absolutely fine either for people who are absolutely fit and mobile and on a budget, or people staying one or two nights only.We were only booked for one night and that was fine. The metal stairs are slippery in the rain BUT the owners in showing us up to the room helped carry cases etc. It is not difficult but if you have any mobility challenges, be sure to ask for ground floor room.Bathroom was shower, loo, small sink - very clean and some in room toiletries also provided which was a nice touch. Our room had several beds and I think was the family room, which makes it ideal for some groups, but as a couple we'd have preferred one larger double bed - however, we had to book this fairly late in our planning, it was the only room available and it was really well priced for the area.Food downstairs in the pub is nice, my tip would be stick to the classics like the burgers and lasagna. More ambitious looking dishes like the scallop and black pudding starter were OK but felt less good in terms of value for money - I had burger envy of my husband's choice! Staff cannot do enough for you and given how tiny the place is in terms of two or so people running the bar, kitchen and dealing with on site accommodation queries they do a smashing job. Our breakfasts in the morning were DELICIOUS.

Very friendly welcome and lovely spacious room

We arrived early to find our room was ready. Accommodation was  spacious, clean and comfortable with Netflix on the TV.

The service was excellent and the delicious breakfast set us up for the day.

After a long day of sightseeing it was great to sit in the bar and have a drink before retiring.

A very welcoming place to stay

Had 4 nights at the Thistle, excellent in every way, room spotless, lovely shower and brilliant breakfast. We made very welcome and felt totally relaxed, the bar was well stocked and very reasonable prices.A very friendly attitude at all times. The evening meal was delicious, and the homemade apple and blackberry dessert washout of this world  .Hotel well situated for touring and beautiful sites within short drive.We would highly recommend this Hotel .

Excellent

Spent a night in this little town. It was a last minute booking which (unknown to us) didn't go through. When we showed up, Michelle went out of her way to find alternatives for us knowing that we had a been on the road the whole day. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant was one of the best "home-cooked" meals. The room with the skylights were a great bonus. If you're in the area, a stay here and the wonderful hospitality should not be missed.

Absolutely wonderful experience

We were in the area for a wedding a couple of miles up the road and weren't sure what to expect from the quiet little village of Crossmichael. Friendly staff, with big shout outs to Michelle who made us English feel very welcome.

We had the annexe which was immaculately clean and quiet. 

Can't fault the price either, I would have maybe expected to have paid a little more. 

Wouldn't usually write a review but thought the Thistle Inn was worth one :)

A great inn with and even greater host

we opted for here for sunday lunch for wee change  knowing the place had changed hands to local family with excellent reputation for food and quality we were not disapointed id not been in for many years but spotless warm and inviting lovely menu chef /owner certinally can cook up a storm in any kitchen like her mother  soup was really delicious and packed with veg very tasty the mains were equally as delicious the steak pie was plenty of eating in it  with fresh veg etc great portions i did venture on to the desert menu and was equally as delighted all in all perfect our server one of the owners family was first class with his srvice once again the family always are perfection with there dining experiences
