The menu has plenty of variety and the food is delicious. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the bar and dining room are pleasant settings to sit in.

Have stayed here many times.  Great hotel, service, comfort and very dog friendly.  The dogs were made very welcome with treats and lots of fuss.  Virtually next to the beach.  Eateries and pubs just minutes away.  Highly recommended.   Helios

We went for two days to Cornwall from London. This beautiful and clean hotel offered food and comfortable lodgings.I would certainly recommend it.The location is stunning.

Stayed here for 2 nights along with our 2 dogs. For the price we weren't expecting much, but we were pleasently surprised. Quick check-in staff very friendly,  room was  a bit dated, but was well looked after, clean and tidy. The bathroom was in good condition and spotlessly clean. Free parking on site is a bonus. Only slight moan is the add on costs for dogs, £8 per dog per night. Now I totally get a cleaning charge as dogs can and do create a bit more mess than 2 adults, however a one of charge seems a fairer option than a per night per dog charge. Staying any longer than a few nights abd it soon adds up.

A good budget hotel!

Very friendly welcome and staff throughout our stay were wonderful. Food fantastic - especially the full Cornish breakfast. Our room was a little disappointing. The double bed was not the most comfortable. The room, in my opinion, could do with some form of net or voile curtains as we were looking directly in to the Travelodge bedrooms so they could look directly in to ours! The room was very hot as needed to keep windows closed due to noise in the night so a fan would have been a welcome addition. There were no bedside lamps as in the photos only the switch by the door. Bathroom was lovely and big however water pressure was very low. The Griffin is in a great location for exploring Newquay.

Hotel is central to Newquay, easy walk to Great western beach and the town, The Griffin has a very good food menu, always a good selection on specials board, crab salad is excellence, sunday roast is fab also a nut roast choice, Everyone of the staff is very good and make you feel welcome, Beers good to.

Stayed there and ate many meals there

Lots to mention really. Not idea for families or people that want an early night or a lie in. The Wetherspoons across the road is open till 1am and opens 9am so it’s noisy and the room was warm so having the windows open caused a lot of noise and road noise. The room was clean and the staff are helpful. The mattress wasn’t the best and we could feel the springs and my partner has awful nights sleeps. It’s rated 3star and I would agree and it wasn’t expensive for a weekend so it’s all relative really. Has parking which is bonus in Newquay and handy walking distance to everything.

3 night stay

The Griffin is very central. Outside seating area is great to sit and watch the world go by. Serves food which is nice. My twin room was clean. Beds comfortable. Can be noisy I expect if your room is at the front. I was lucky. It was quiet because of the windy weather.  My car was splattered with gull poo, but it's a sea side resort so gulls are are part of the experience.

When we arrived (at 8:30am -  after a very early morning flight ) our best hope was to have breakfast and deposit our bags at reception - so you can imagine our delight when Kat (manager) arranged an early check in for us. We were so grateful. The room was spacious and comfy and facing the road - and despite reading reviews about noise, we found the stay very peaceful. We had breakfast and one evening meal there and both were good. The staff in the bar and restaurant are very friendly and helpful. The outside facade looks a little tired - but don’t be put off - it’s an idealLocation - close to everything - with lovely friendly service and super comfy rooms. We will definitely stay here again.

Homely and comfortable

This is the second time we have stayed at the Griffon Hotel, which is well established in Newquay, it was here when I lived in Newquay in the 70s, so it has stood the test of time.  The staff are very friendly, and the breakfasts we had there were excellent. Although we didn't have an evening meal there, I have heard reports the food is very good.The hotel is well situated in Newquay with the Rail Station close by. It has car parking facilities, a bar, restaurant, lift to the first floor.We would be more than happy to return to the Griffon on our next visit to Newquay.

Return Visit

Room had paper walls coukd here next door chatting loudly tv had a line down the middle which was off putting   some had left a black iorn mark on the carpet floor ? No iorn in the room but over all not to bad  room 10

A lovely hotel, clean, tidy, friendly staff and great food. I will definitely stay here again.
