Lovely stay. Room lovely and warm, comfortable bed, clean bathroom and bedroom. Great English breakfast served in dining room, evening meal served in bar/restaurant with a roaring great fire. Staff very friendly, efficient, welcoming and always ready for a chat. Highly recommend

Well run place. Good food, good staff and manager, good rooms. We statyed there on Fridat evening. Ate an excellent pie with a lovely crusty bottom. Manager was very accommodating and helpful. Very happy to return there. A very good country pub.

A quaint and cozy hotel about a 30 minute drive from York. The staff are very warm and friendly and the included full English breaksfast is a treat not to be missed! Rooms are adequate in size. Note that the website contains information and photos of each room for you to select. The hotel also includes a traditional pub. We dound the Fauconberg to be a good base for exploring North Yorkshire.

Had a wonderful stay at this historic inn. It’s located in a tiny hamlet in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. The rooms above the pub for us and my in laws were beautiful, clean and meticulously decorated to match the 17th century, but with a modern bathrooms. 
The restaurant and pub were wonderful. There is an outside patio in both the front and back to relax with food and drinks. The food was delicious. Staff were very friendly. We had great service. This was a serendipitous find that I  booked online and was not disappointed. Highly recommend this Inn and it’s pub and restaurant. 

My wife and I had lunch here on our 50th Wedding Anniversary.  It was over 27 years since our last visit.  The service, friendliness and food were all superb and the meal was excellent value.  The presentation of both the slow-roasted belly of pork and the flat iron steak was exemplary.  We thoroughly recommend this fine old inn.

We love a good village pub and this is right up there with the best we’ve visited! The service is fantastic, very accommodating and dog friendly. Where to start with the food, it was 10/10 we wouldn’t change a thing. We had the bruschetta starter followed by the steak & ale pie, and crab, prawn & chilli linguine (this was one of the tastiest i’ve ever had). 

Lovely drinks with some doggy treats provided by the staff in the sunny beer garden at the front of the pub facing which faces onto the most beautiful country cottages. We will definitely be visiting again.

We had the pleasure of staying in the 4 poster bedroom. Such a pleasant sunny room. Clean and fresh, with everything needed for the stay.
The bed, wow, so comfortable.
Breakfast was lovely, scrambled egg the best ever, and you can tell the produce is high quality. A great choice of evening meals and daily specials from the chef  and his team.
Annalies is an amazing host.

Quaint little pub, Lovely friendly staff. I had the fish, chips & mushy peas.
was absolutely delicious. Fish was cooked perfectly, lovely white fresh fish and perfect batter. 
My wife had just a sandwich. Plenty of filling in the  sandwich and comes with chips & salad. She really enjoyed it. 
Will definitely visit again if we are in the area. 

We just keep coming back to this pub .. hospitality.. excellent food .. great beers and gin !! 
The rooms are superb and immaculate.. real attention to detail. The setting is in a very quiet village .. perfect to relax .. the gardens at the rear of the property provide stunning views .. thank you once again

Following our family stroll along the top of the White Horse at Sutton Bank we went to the nearby Fauconberg Inn for lunch. My wife had booked it a few days before and we were told that the earliest booking available was 1.30pm. It was a lovely sunny day and when we arrived there were quite a lot of people drinking outside at the tables and upon entering the inn it was packed out with people dining. We thought it would be busy but not this busy for a small  outlying village in this beautiful picturesque area. We were shown to our table in one of the many dining rooms and soon attended to for drinks and food order. Despite the number of diners we didn't have to wait long for our food, which was delicious and well cooked. The prices are reasonable. I had a small haddock and chips (£8.50) and it was as big as any full size fish and chip shop portions ! My starter was prawn cocktail in a Rose Marie sauce, beautifully presented. My wife and son had stake and ale pie and they really enjoyed it. What I also like about this pub is an additional lunch time menu that does sandwiches at a very reasonable price for those that only want a lite bite.

Enjoyable Lunch Time Meal.

Return visit to this wonderful pub/hotel . We stayed this time in The Rosedale room , which is a beautiful large romantic room , with stunning views from the windows . We had the best nights sleep , so quiet even thou the hotel was full . Breakfast was amazing, first class . 
We had a fabulous evening at the back bar as the football was on and my husband wanted to watch it, they very kindly allowed us to dine in that room and the meal was superb. The locals were very friendly and welcoming as it was quite busy for the match and we particularly enjoyed regular Michael’s live commentary of the football . Can’t wait to go back , it’s an absolute joy to stay and dine there , plus the countryside around the pub is just outstanding.

Fantastic return visit

From the moment we stepped into the small homely reception of The Fauconberg ,we felt relaxed and very welcome. 
The mother and daughter team are chatty, friendly and great hostesses.
This little country gem is quintessentially English ,quirky and atmospheric.
If you want sterile, straight edges and a uniform look that is like all  the interior design magazines do not come here. If you want GENUINE rustic charm, history and great food and drink by a roaring fire in a beautiful village, then do come. Our room, the large triple was light airy and clean and I have to say we really did not want to leave! thank you
