Lovely old Pub/Hotel Good for short stay in Clitheroe.

New years eve stay, chose due to central location.Large room, plenty towels and hot shower. Would recommend as breakfast is available,  and although we were at another venue for a party, food was  served during the day/night.

Lovely pub grub, excellent disco, comfy bed.Room was cold on arrival but soon warmed up once we turned the radiator up.  Lovely, comfortable stay

Called in on a Thursday afternoon.

Very friendly staff.

Really nice meals had by the four of us.
Food was piping hot and arrived quickly.

The steak pudding was both huge and excellent.
The seafood pie was very good too!

Extremely surprised to find this hidden gem of a hotel. Cited above an old pub oozing with character and history - nothing is level or plumb as was the original way of building - I bet the walls could tell some stories. Very clean and comfortable, warm and cozy. Prices good for town centre including breakfast which was also excellent.

All i needed for a 2 night stay whilst in Clitheroe for a friend’s wedding. Nice greeting on arrival and easy check in. I booked a double room but got given what looks like a family room. It was clean and I liked the fact I could go in and out the side door when pub was shut. 
There was a loud disco on Saturday night which I was warned about as I was in the room above it. 
It isn't a luxury hotel, but was perfect for my needs as I only slept in it after getting drunk at a friends wedding!

We was in Clitheroe doing a Treasure Trail and when we had finished it we decided to call into The Swan and Royal pub for a drink. After a two hour walking trail the pint of Kopperberg went down a treat.  Whilst in there we thought we would get a bite to eat as well. 
The staff were really lovely and friendly, the man behind the bar told us the pie my Husband had ordered wasn’t available so he opted for the beef and onion hot baguette instead and a refund for the difference in meal prices was settled straightaway.  I had the cajun chicken baguette. Both meals were piping hot and the baguettes came with chips and salad. 
Really lovely food, lovely staff what more could you want.  I would highly recommend this pub if you are ever visiting Clitheroe and we will definitely call in again x

Lovely large room overlooking the main street and with a view of the castle. Very comfy bed with pristine white sheets. Room and bathroom not so clean. Toilet needed a good clean, shower curtain had black mould all across the bottom and the carpet in the room needed hoovering. Very dusty everywhere. That being said, we had a great stay and the location was perfect for our night out around the town

Thank you to the staff for the warm welcome, great service and a really lovely Sunday roast lunch. I’m totally stuffed but dessert was so good I couldn’t leave it ( spotted dick). I was with friends, we will be back! Great prices too so the whole afternoon was good value for money. We will be back for the Xmas menu.

Nice place to stay.

Great pub!

Perfect location

Lovely  Sunday  lunch at a reasonable price

The pub is in the centre of Clitheroe, so very handy for all the amenities nearby. The rooms are above the pub and they are very honest about the level of noise. You should expect.If you book a breakfast, you eat it in the pub, we weren’t shown any menu, so I don’t know if there was any choice other than what we had.Their car park at the back is very tight through an entrance tunnel that was tricky to negotiate. it’s also very small so I don’t think it would hold very many cars.We didn’t really speak to any staff other than on chec in but the room was well prepared and clean and very safe with its own entrance code that we created. We had no problems at all during our stay there. This was only one night. It was a Saturday, so the music is until 1 am which  we knew so it was fine.

Called in the pub around lunch time for a drink, looked at the menu and decided to return for tea, which we did and thoroughly enjoyed it, servied freshly made and hot and good value for money.  Appearances and be deceiving as the pub looks as it needs an update, but it is very clean and staff are friendly and polite I would imagine it does get busy at weekends it was Monday evening when we visited and it was nice and warm.

A Tasty Evening Meal

Friendly staff was informed of discos held on the Saturday and Sunday until 1am when booking.  Pub did not do any food after 3pm on Saturday and Sunday which we didn’t know about so arriving after a 7 hour journey after 5pm was not the best news and of course everywhere we tried was booked!! The room was clean, basic but spacious and had a modern en-suite. Breakfast was £7.50 per person and was freshly cooked. Overall a lovely and good value stay. Thank you

huge room with one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in for a long time, beautiful crisp clean linen and towels, very helpful staff, the only reason I only gave  stars for service was that the room had not been stocked with a spare toilet roll, but couldn't fault the staff. The hotel showed it's age, although clean and tastefully decorated, but it is a historic building, so if you want modern flashy decor, this i snot for you, but if you want a clean comfortable room at a sensible price, it was just that. One other caveat, the hotel car park is quite tight to get into, but should be ok unless you have a wider than standard car.

several visits now excellent pub and accommodation . great location . food brilliant . staff cant do enough for you . rooms large and well equipped we normally stop Saturday  night so very busy with music so don't think you can have a quiet early night. but we enjoy the lively atmosphere will be back phil carole
