The Old Mill

The Old Mill is a beautifully restored building with charm and character situated on the edge of Shipston on Stour but within a very short walk of the town centre.  The room was a lovely combination of exposed beams and excellent decor and the bathroom modern and roomy.  Breakfast was excellent and the dining room exquisite with period atmosphere and original flagstones.  The proprietor was attentive and all our needs were more than catered for.  The town was interesting to explore with plenty of options for evening dining.

We have stayed in many B&B establishments, and the Old Mill is amongst the most memorable for all the right reasons.  Besides practicalities such as easy parking and central position within the town, and a well-equipped (and in our case hugely spacious) room, the beautiful historic old building and its matching furnishings make for a completely relaxing ambience the moment you walk through the door.  Full marks to the unfussy Judy, Adam and the collie dogs.  Scrambled eggs were the best anywhere.

We booked a week away and was staying somewhere where we weren’t comfortable, we found this little gem and booked here for the remaining 5 nights of our holiday and so glad we did . Room was amazing with bath and shower and Judy made sure our vegetarian breakfasts were spot on and plenty of it . Just spent a wonderful two days at the old mill. Judy the host was so pleasant and helpful. As soon as I mentioned lactose free milk she told me not to bother bringing as she would sort and she did. Lovely big bedroom with tea/coffee making facilities and fridge.

We booked the Old Mill for two nights for our 30th wedding anniversary, using Shipston on Stour as a base for taking in the Cotsolds 

What we didn’t fully anticipate was how much the accommodation would contribute to a thoroughly enjoyable break.  Judith and her husband have created an impressively refurbished property complimented by a totally relaxing and friendly atmosphere – the epitome what a really good B & B should be … highly recommended

A homely welcome, huge restful room and a very comfortable bed.  You are also surrounded by so much history in each room that the character  is oozing out of the walls. 
After a very good night we enjoyed and excellent breakfast too. I am sure we will go out of our way to stay here again.  And if you come here, please give daisy the border collie dog a pat from us, she was the ultimate canine hostess! 

We stayed one night here, as a couple on a walking weekend. Easy to find, good car parking and a crunchy gravel drive welcomed us. Judy the Owner showed us to our room, explained everything efficiently and without fuss and let us settle in. The room was clean, tasteful contemporary decor, with big old timber beams,shabby chic furniture and comfy beds and carpets. The ensuite was bright, clean and nicely laid out with a deep bath and lots of hot water. The rest of the house is a huge old millhouse, and set in a lovely spot next to the river. The town is about 3 minutes walk away, and has several pubs and restaurants, including El Cafe, which was superb. We loved the closeness to the town with easy and well lit access and yet the quiet location meant no noise at night at all. Nice big windows and an open view meant we woke to beautiful sunshine and birdsong. We had other plans for breakfast (although it is included), but it looked very good ! This is a quality place to stay in a great location, reasonably priced and with only a few rooms, feels very exclusive. Lovely quarry tiled floors, tasteful decor, nice pieces of heavy furniture and sparkly white walls gives the Old Mill an authentic and historic feel. Recommended.

Perfect break

This is a lovely traditional B&B run by friendly people. the room we ha was large, well appointed and generally lovely. Breakfast was good and the price for the stay reasonable. The B&B is within 2-3 minutes walk from the village centre which has some great eateries and pubs. We went to Sheldons Wine Cellars for one of their tours which was great fun and then ate at the Tapas restaurant (El Cafe) that is attached to it which was without a doubt one of the friendliest and tastiest Tapas we've had and very much recommended!

Well situated for the village and surrounding area

A traditional B&B in a beautiful part of the Cotswold. The owner, Judy, is a very warm person and her pet collie Daisy is what you’d love to see in a dog – well behaved and friendly. There is plenty of parking right in front of the B&B and you can expect Daisy to greet you with a cheerful bark every time you drive in.

Although we opted out of a couple of items on the full English breakfast menu, it was quite filling and delicious. The room décor is very traditional and the cooler weather made for a very restful sleep. We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed the small town which is just a 3-minute walk from the inn. Judy recommended a couple of places to eat and “The George” was our favorite – a good English upmarket pub. We used one of the days to visit the lovely towns of Stratford-upon-Avon (birthplace of William Shakespeare) and Chipping Campden, both within an easy 20-minute drive distance from the inn.
 
Our room had 2 twin beds and was quite spacious. The WiFi was a bit weak on the top floor but that was not a problem for us. The washroom had a bathtub with a hand-held shower but no shower curtain so it was almost next to impossible to keep the floor dry after a shower. 

I would love to come back and stay again at the Old Mill. Thank you Judy.
